Chops Steaks Seafood and Bar

For the Capitol and surrounding work crowd, this is THE place to hold a meeting or fundraising event. I frequent for lunch, but go back for the killer happy hour menu! Never disappoints.

We booked a very large party here for a retirement celebration and i would never recommend this place for that size event. They have a "banquet room" in the basement and it is extremely dark and the way the room is set up it forced 1/3 of the guests to be very segregated and not a part of the group. the ambiance is terrible. the servers were very unhelpful and really didnt do much besides bring the food out and clear the plates. never asked how things were, or helped with drinks or the cake. lastly, they overcharged us for the food. We gave them an order ahead of time of who will be eating what and when a mistake occurred (before the food was served) and we tried to fix it they said too bad we will have to just pay for the extra (even though there was no extra). Never again!



i almost forgot to mention. the food was terrible. The pasta they served us was watered down and had no flavor. all the guests that ordered the pasta didn't even eat it.

My wife and I went into Chops last Friday and were greeted by a friendly hostess. We were sat immediately and helped with in 1 min with bread and water. The server was polite and fast. The food was excellent...I had the Prime rib and my wife had the salmon. The price was a little high, which might be the reason for so many bad reviews..? I would reccomend this place to anyone willing to pay a little extra for amazing food and a great atmosphere.

We went to Chops and absolutely loved the place! I thought the food was excellent and the service was perfect. I do not understand why anyone would give a bad review, I totally disagree. The hostess was very professional and our waitor gave excellent service. We had the Prime Rib and the Filet and both were cooked just right. I would definately recommend this place to anyone and we will definately be back again! Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Chops seems to think being in a good location is all you need for a successful restaurant. The decor is old and dirty. The food is ok @ best. The owner kept coming by our table to make sure everything was ok. She should probably lay off the alcohol around her customers. I would not return to Chops.

The food at Chops is nothing special. I went their once a couple of years ago and remember the service being horrible. I decided to give another shot. What a mistake. The service is still bad and the food mediocre. Their are so many better restaurants in that area.
