Yes, I fell in love with a date. No silly! I am not talking about match.com or eharmony or even worse, the kind of date your friends set you up with. I fell in love with a date stuffed with warm goat cheese drizzled with pancetta. He/she was sweet, savory and deep all at once. What more can a woman ask for? She/he was also generous and warm...which is much better than most first dates. Fortunately for you this date was not exclusive. You too can join the new dating game here in Sacramento at Formoli's 33rd and J Street. If dates aren't your thing then try the shrooms-portabella that is, soaked in asiago. The pepper crusted seared Ahi tuna is simply other worldly.....A nautical dream come true. It's only competition is the seared scallop crusted with porcini mushrooms and the whiskey burger is to die for. An added plus is that you get to meet the chef as he cooks out in the open. The restaurant also features an array of delightful and deep French and Italian wines. With it's laid back atmosphere Formoli's is the best thing that has happened to Sacramento in a long long time.

I don't understand all of the reviews complaining about Bandera being overpriced, in my opinion they provide great value if you are going out for a nice dinner. Their food (specifically the Hawaiian Ribeye special, Prime Rib, etc) rivals anything you can find at high end steakhouses like Ruths Chris, Morton's, Chops, etc for roughly half the price of those restaurants. The sides, salads and desserts are reasonable ($5-9) a most importantly... THEY DO NOT CHARGE A CORKAGE FEE! That is amazing. Good wine is so expensive at restaurants it is hard to believe that Bandera allows you to do this, I was somewhat scared to ask the first time I did it. You can bring nice bottle of wine and have an amazing meal in a nice atmosphere with good service for $100... that is a great deal in my opinion. The people complaining about the prices at Bandera should stick to Red Lobster, Olive Garden or Buca for their special occasions. This is not a restaurant to take your kids or big groups. Take your significant other and have a great night.
I just went right before this New Year's Eve. My first time there. I loved it! Great staff attention and the food was awesome. Don't let the small menu fool you, because they walk up with at least 15 more specials to tell you about, with a lot of fresh fish choices, if that's to your liking. Plus, their menu says that if you don't see it on the menu, but the ingrediaents are nearby, they'll get it and make it for you! I adored Adam. His accent and charm make everything 10x better! The atmosphere reminds me of a San Francisco bistro, small, but pleasantly dimly lit for dinner with good ambiance. It would be great with a date, but I've gone with friends, and saw lots of families there celebrating late Christmas get-together's, so it's all-accomodating. I'm returning tomorrow with all my other girlfriends before we go to the theater because the food was YUMMY! So GO already! :)
