I wish I didn't feel compelled to write…

I wish I didn't feel compelled to write this, but I am angry. In my attempt to adopt a dog from this organization, I am very sad to say that I was treated with less respect than I'm sure they show their animals. They did not do their research to discover exactly who I was and what I could offer the dog over its life. They did not call any of my references. They didn't even pick up the phone to thank me for wanting to adopt one of their dogs. The director hid behind her email so she did not have to tell me in person that she was rejecting me. It was completely unprofessional! My circumstances were unique and they required a follow up phone call on her part, but she didn't do that. She chose to NOT adopt the dog I wanted into my home and ultimately deprived the dog of an incredibly happy life. In my opinion she played GOD in making the decision and it BROKE MY HEART!!! Her concern for the dog was greater than showing me the respect an adoptee deserved. She even declined letting me meet the dog in person so the dog could decide. REJECTED! All that mattered to her was that I didn't fit the exact criteria, at this exact moment in time, even though it would have been perfect within a few weeks. I would never trust this director to treat an adoption request professionally and with respect. Her passion for the animal has jaded her opinion of people... and that's just wrong!!! I have since found a dog at the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter and it was a very pleasant experience working with them. They treated me with respect and they were very grateful that one of their dogs found a home with someone as caring as I am. By the way, if any Board Members read this I asked for a letter to be delivered to you expressing my frustration. I suspect your director has not forwarded it to you. I've asked her to follow up and I've heard nothing. Karen Saint
