Can you say abysmal? Do you know what it means? Well, I bet they don't at Hardwick Vision. Abysmal describes the service I received on my first, and last, visit to Hardwick Vision Center. The Optometrist behaved like it was a real inconvenience, an interruption, when I asked a simple question. The person who finally helped me select a frame (after a lengthy wait for any help at all) abruptly left for lunch before we finished. She was out to lunch, alright. Of course I had to wait to see someone else and try to pick up where we left off.

As for the lenses, no one knew exactly what was available from their lab. No one even tried to explain my options, alternatives, or suggest products; In other words, Unprofessional, uncooperative, and unknowledgeable.

I went there because it was one of the few, and closest, providers of the line of frames my insurance would completely cover. During my visit, I selected my frames, decided on the lenses, chose all the upgrades I wanted, got copies of the paperwork and said I would return with a Rx the following week.

I discovered that the lenses I initially chose were not right for me, and called the following week to make sure the lab could provide the ones I needed. Now, when I was there last they called the lab and verified the availability of what I asked for. This time they would not call on my behalf, but gave me the lab's number and told me to call myself. When I did, a recording would not let me in without a provider number, and informed me they don't speak to retail customers anyway, only providers.

After telling them this at Hardwick, they told me I have to contact my vision insurance provider, who will contact the lab. They also said they had shredded all copies of the paperwork I was given during my previous visit, because I did not make a purchase when I was there. I asked to speak to the person that saw me then, and was told no one knew who that was. I then told them to put the frames back on the rack, shredded their business card, and all the paperwork that came from them. I said that I would check elsewhere for eyeglasses that suited me, but that if I absolutely could not find any place else that would do a better job than they did, I might be back, and we could start all over again; yeah, right. Hardwick must do a booming business in the big city of Rockingham, because I don't think they care much for discerning customers from anywhere else.

Notice the link of Hardwick Vision Center that clearly states their current specials:

My 16 year old took his two year old brother to Hardwick Vision Center 12-26-14 for an eye exam. They did NOT offer the promotion that is clearly stated on their sign outside: buy a pair for $99 get a pair for free. Instead they charged $271.95 cash.

I called the manager today 12-29-14 and said I would like the promotion. She said "No, the contract is binding and non transferrable" Everyone knows that a 16 year old cannot legally sign into a contract. When I told the manager this and that I will put it on Facebook and let everyone know how they treat people, she simply said "Thanks for the heads up".

DO NOT GO TO HARDWICK VISION CENTER. Learn from my Lesson.

Dr. Smith and staff are the most friendliest, timely, and professional people I have met within the health industry that I have encountered in a long time. It is a pleasure to walk in and be treated as if you were family. Keep up the good work sincerely, Nancy Burroughs.
