Dental Examination
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommend a child is seen for a dental exam by 1 year of age. This helps to better prevent cavities and allow the child and parent to become more familiar with the dental office.

North Coast Dental Group began in 1956 as an independent practice on the Keeler Street Circle. Its founder, Dr. Stanley Handelman, who became chairman of the Department of General Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Center, partnered with Dr. Jack Howitt, a pediatric dentist who also practiced in the same neighborhood. The two dentists combined their practices in the late 1960s at 1400 Portland Avenue. As the busy office attracted more and more patients, its founders reached out to some of the most respected dentists they knew at the Eastman Dental Center; Drs. Brenner, Levy, Musiker and Weiner.
