Some surgical procedures require the placement of a urinary catheter. This will typically result in some burning or discomfort with urination over the following 24 hours. It should resolve on its own. Anesthetic agents and surgery can also cause an inability to empty the bladder completely or inability to void at all. This is more common in older men, especially those with an enlarged prostate. If you have been unable to urinate for more than 6 hours following your procedure and you are feeling urinary pressure, than you should proceed to an urgent care or emergency room. A catheter will likely need to be inserted to empty the bladder.

He was born, raised and educated in the Detroit metropolitan area. He attended the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2008. In 2013, he received his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He then trained in General Surgery at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, completing residency in 2018, after which he immediately joined Premier Surgical Specialists in August of 2018.
Wound Care
The surgeons, schedulers, and billers at Premier Surgical Specialists will coordinate their efforts with you to deliver your care at a facility that is most appropriate for your specific needs. Our aim is to provide care that is certainly expert and safe, but also as convenient and comfortable for you as possible.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
· You may remove any gauze bandages 24 hours after surgery. If you had minimally invasive surgery, you will either have surgical glue or steri-strips on the incisions. Both of these usually stay on for about 10-14 days. Once the steri-strips start to lift, you may pull them off. If you have staples, these will be removed in the office about 2 weeks post operatively.
Robotic Surgery
As a recent surgical graduate, he is well trained in the latest and best general surgical techniques. This includes verification of his laparoscopic and endoscopic skills by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, in addition to verification of his Da Vinci robotic surgery skills by Intuitive Surgical. In 2019, Dr. Martinovski became a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and was granted board certification in Surgery.

After completing residency, she went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced GI Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center. Her fellowship focused on the surgical management of morbid obesity, diseases of the foregut, and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. In 2021, Dr. Stevens became board certified in General Surgery and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
