I had been wanting to get my hair done for awhile, but I am picky and don't really have a stylist who I trust to do a whole new look. My friends raved about Mango, said they were kinda expensive, but they had nice products, great hair dressers and good results after. So for my birthday I asked my dad for a gift certificate to get my hair completly done over. I went in for a consultation first so I could get a price. The front desk girl greeted me with a big smile, seemed to check me in, had me fill out a little information sheet and gave me a small tour. She offered me something to drink, pointed me in the direction of the bathroom if I needed it and told me a little about the products they used. Then I waited and waited and waited... I thought I had possibly gotten the time wrong so I didn't freak out. but after 45min of nobody saying anything I went to find out what happened and apparently the first girl who gave me a wonderful greeting forgot to check me in! The other front desk girl seemed genuinely sorry, gave me a little gift bag with 3 sample sized hand lotions (that smell great) I had to go to work and couldn't stay any longer. I rescheduled for the next day and was seen as soon as I walked in. I saw Crystal Clark the next week to do everything we talked about. Cut, color, highlights and style. I told her what I liked, then said to please do what she felt would look best, because what I may want will not look the best on my skin tone. I have dark brown very curly hair and very fair skin (british and german here). She touched up my new growth and added some beautiful honey colored high lights, gave me bangs that I wanted, blew my hair out straight and I looked completly different : ) I love my new look, and I have never ever had sooo many compliments on how I look! She did a great job listening to me for what I wanted then mixed it well with what would be best for me and my lifestyle. I know she is kinda expensive, but I will continue going back to her because she is worth it!

If you know me, you've seen at least one; I have been infamous for years now for my creative, yet horrible self-cuts...I don't know what compells me to cut it in the first place, but I know exactly what compelled me to walk into Virginia Hair last week, begging for a last-minute appt. I'm NOT 19 any more and I work in a fairly conservative environment, and I could tell by the look on her face that she felt a little sorry for me. Now, I'm going to tell you right now that yes, Virginia is a dear friend of mine. But that doesnt change the fact that what she did in just 30 minutes on my mostly dry hair was nothing short of magical. I'm not exaggerating, wait until I post pictures. If you are a stressed-out, strapped-for-time Type A personality type, Virginia is not the stylist for you. She goes the mile for everyone who sits in her chair, meaning she may fit someone in while your color is processing, for example. Well, that's Miss Type A's loss. Virginia is amazing; and that's how I looked when I walked in to work at 7am the next morning. Thank you, honey!
I had my first time experience at this hair salon. I do belive it is a culture shock when you first arrive. And don't let the crowd of customer discourage you from going in the shop as i was. There were about fifty customers ahead of me and i was at the shampoo bowl within ten minutes of walking in. The assembly line way of how they work with their customers was shocking as well. Everyone that got their hair styled came out looking as though they just received a relaxer when really they hadn't. Including myself. Thier process was different than most other salons and could easily be copied by other salons as well. They're key ingredient for their process...... is heat. The roller set you get and sit under the dryer til dry, and then the extreme heat that they use to straighten your roots. How painful the heat was, was it worth it? Yes! Would I go again? Most definately. Plus, no other salon around the tri-cities, richmond, henrico, or charlottesville area can beat their prices.
