Department of Community Development Permits and Inspections Bureau provides services related to construction activities in Richmond city of Virginia. The bureau provides services through zoning, property maintenance, permits and engineering service and new construction permitting and inspection divisions. Its services include review of architecture design plans and issuance of building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, elevator and demolition permits. The bureau reviews and inspects site plans to ensure compliance with flood regulations, wetland approvals and erosion and sedimentation control ordinances. The bureau also enforces environmental code by investigation of unkempt yards, high weeds and grass, junk cars and abandoned tires. It also provides support staff to various building code appeals boards.
