Our experience at Bowman's Orchard today was wonderful! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great food, TONS of activities for the kids! The kids LOVED the playground and wanted to go back for more after we ate lunch. While yes, the lines do get pretty long, it's because they are one of the best orchards around. But totally worth the wait! Where else can you get pony rides, hay rides, a corn maze, an apple cannon, peddle go-karts, home made ice cream, donuts, kettle corn, cider, pies, pop...view more corn, and everything else you could possibly imagine! I have read a few reviews about this orchard, and it was a bunch of people who clearly didn't read the signs as you enter the orchard, or the maps they were handed. In order for the orchard to assure you actually pay for what you pick, they search your vehicle. No big deal as long as you are an honest person! This is stated on either signs or the pamphlet. Again, no big deal for the honest person. I love the facility, and I WILL be back with the family next year! Thank you Bowman's Orchard for a great fun-filled day!view less
The staff accused my sister, her daughter, and granddaughter of stealing. They called them names, refused to discuss the issue like civil people, refused to look at her paid receipt for the over $50 worth of apples in her car. They told them to ";go back where they came from". Not sure what that's means since they live here in clifton park. My sister felt so threatened that she tried to call the police.
I will never never go back there, and now I see that she isn't the ...view moreonly one who has had that type of problem there. I wish I had known sooner.view less
If I could give this place no stars I would. Don't go here it was the worst apple picking experience I have ever had. The people were rude and the orchard was a mess, dirty and disgusting. The apple's were nothing to brag about either- I wish I made the trip somewhere else!
Bowman Orchards is a family tradition for me and my family... Love thier apples, and the freshly made donuts!! We have been going there for years now and it seems they have something new and exciting everyyear!! My kids just love the farm animals and their yummy homemade ice cream, not to mention all the fun stuff to play on. \r
It is evident the Bowmans are constantly working hard to improove the farm and the experiance their customers have there!! \r
We Just love it there and cant...view more say enough about it... it does get busy on weekends but for us its well worth the wait!!view less
Bowman orchard is the worst pick-ur-own place ever. The employee and owner are rude to their customers and they don't even let you taste the strawberries before you pick. We went to this Bowman orchard on Father's day and we have to pay $2 dollars per person as entrance fee (even a barely 2 years old have to pay this entrance fee). In the beginning, we want to taste a few strawberries before we pick. A few minutes later, one of the Bowman orchard employees and so called ""owner"" of th...view moreat place came over and said very rudely ""stop stealing our strawberries, don't act like a pig"". Of course, I fought back about their rudeness, the customers should not be treated this way. If you have any choice, don't go there, you will be very very disapponited, trust me on that and don't waste your money.\rview less
My daughter and I visited Bowman Orchards yesterday for a fun family outing of picking apples. They happily sold us a bag to place our apples in, but we could not find any apples on the designated trees? Not wanting to leave without any apples, my daughter picked the apples from the ground - not my idea of picking apples - more a case of sorting the rotten from the not so rotten. When leaving they wanted to search our trunk. (seemingly a standard practice) I refused, and all hell br...view moreoke loose! (I very maturely shoved my apples out my car and told them to put it where it hurts!) I had 10 workers surrounding me, being hostile, yelling at me, calling me names (insulting me) and expanding/lying. I agreed that they call the police to sort this out, as I felt violated on so many levels. The police never did show - my guess is they get many of these calls from Bowman and blow it off? \r
Due to time restrains on my end I reluctantly let them search my car and paid for the bruised apples. \r
They claim there are signs informing us that this is their practice the sign reads: "" All produce must be declared before entering"" \r
No really the day out I had planned. I reluctantly give them even one star. If you do choose to visit them - I hope your experience is better than mine.\r
I went to Bowman Orchard on Saturday along with visiting relatives from NYC. My guests enjoyed apple picking so much that they decided that they would visit again soon. However, we were very disappointed and felt humiliated at the check out. They not only searched our vehicles trunk, but probed underneath our seats for supposedly stolen apples!! They were rude when we told them that they cannot go through our personal items. The staff is very racist!!! Please anyone considering ...view moregoing there should think twice. If you don't mind being treated like a possible suspect , and being humiliated then this is the place to be!!view less
I went on a Sunday in mid October, around 11 am. It was a beautiful fall day and I anticipated a big crowd, especially from the articles and reviews I've read, but I actually thought they were closed. As we drove up and parked we did find some more people out picking apples, but it wasn't overly crowded. It was fun to be armed with a map, a list of apples that we can choose from for that day and go walk around. People were also driving around, but I didn't find that necessary. I did...view more think the wait was pretty long to check out. There were only two cars ahead of us and waited about 20 minutes. I was surprised that our car was checked. I forgot that I had camping gear in the back and they took it out and rummaged through it. I wished they had warned me before hand or even mentioned it before they started doing it, but they just went ahead and started going through my stuff. I can see how that would tick off a lot of people. We went into the shop afterwards and the icecream was delicious. I highly recommend the pumpkin icecream. I got a small cone and told the cashier what I purchased, but she still charged me for a large one. I should've realized it when she gave me attitude when I asked for my receipt, but I didn't realize it till I got home. The lady making the carmel apples (yes, they make yummy carmel apples right there) and the icecream girl were super friendly and nice. I thought it was a nice orchard to go to, but for apple picking I may do the farther drive and go to Goold, only b/c they're smaller and you're not subject to an invasion of privacy. However, for my pumpkin icecream, I'm definitely going to Bowman.view less
I, too, had a bad experience at Bowman, as many have reported. It took a 1/2 hour to get in due to the crowds on this particular beautiful Fall Sunday. It is not their fault that it is crowded and they are doing a good business. However, by this time, they should anticapte this and have a more efficient way of entering and exiting with large numbers such as these. They should have many more employees on the weekends to help. On the way out, they young gal who said she was one of the ow...view moreners, was downright rude to me. She had a very bad attitude. Her customer service skills were horrendous. We did not even want to go to the store after having such a bad experience.view less
