My 50" Philips plasma tv went belly up with the infamous click click problem on power up. I called Exhange-TV (associated with Rensselaer Appliance) and I believe the technician was Gerry; he came out the next day, took the TV apart, removed the faulty capacitors and resoldered in the new better quaity capacitors on the power supply board. The TV works like a champ and I didn't realize that even though a couple of capacitors (5 in all) died that it would have affected my picture quality; it's so much better now. Gerry even went the extra step to check the board for other known problems that could arise on these tv's but found none



Their very prompt service (next day), knowledgable and very courteous staff has earned them a new customer from now on and I will recommend them to anyone who needs an in-home repair. Now-a-days in this throw away world we live in it is still good to know that there are honest people willing to come to your home to repair something and will not rip you off with their rates... very reasonable for an in-home repair.

I recently called Rensselaer Appliance to ask for a service estimate because our older model Maytag dryer was making a horrible noise. They said it would cost $75 to have a service technician come out to check the machine, and if I chose to have them fix the problem, the $75 would be applied to the cost. We set an appointment and their service tech, Mike, was right on time. Mike was young, very polite and friendly. He took the dryer apart, showed me what the problems were (a wheel bearing that the drum rotates on internally was shot), plus the rubber belt that goes around the drum was cracked and suffering from dry rot. I agreed to the repair cost, and the entire visit + repair was done in just over an hour. Mike also cleaned out all the dryer lint that had built up inside the machine at no extra cost. The total charge for everything plus tax was just under $200. We viewed this as a good value because $200 to keep our existing dryer running is a lot less expensive than shelling out $500 - $700 for a brand new one. I was very pleased with the service; Mike was a very pleasant young man who definitely cared about the service he provided. Thank you!
