Overall

I was arrested and charged with DUI and was given Mr. Conway as a public defender. I asked Mr. Conway to get me into veteran's court. He said that it wouldn't be a problem and I trusted him. He ended up entering a plea before making the request which made me ineligible for veteran's court. After the judge denied the request, Mr. Conway told the judge that he was aware of the proper procedure but that most of the time the judges grant the request after a plea has been entered. From what I understood, he knew what needed to be done but did not follow through.
Luckily the judge allowed me to go to the VA for alcohol counseling but I ended up having to pay over $700 in fines. I also now have a conviction for DUI which comes up on routine background checks for things like employment. I am graduating soon and now I have the pleasure of explaining a DUI in job interviews.
I honestly feel that he hurt my case more than he helped it. I feel like he not only let me down, but the whole community as well. By receiving money for something that an ordinary person can do, I feel like he cheated the hard working people who pay their taxes after an honest day's work.
