fresh, local, organic .... and art

First it's just a lovely place to stop and look, the rustic beautiful barn and fields are beautiful and then there's the produce. All that is sold there is grown there, fresh, local, seasonal .... whether you live here or just rolling through drop in because they have varieties few others grow. Often there's art by local folks and even some of their staff.

      Very Good
I'm getting a clear picture here based on ....

Grungerbob's review. First of all being a bike mechanic takes skill and time. Yes, if I take my bike to the shop I do expect to pay for the labor involved, every knowledgeable cyclist does. I also don't expect to neglect my bike, letting parts deteriorate or even rust over the winter say and rush into the shop at the first sign of great weather and want it NOW! I however have built up a great relationship with my LBS such that if the repair will take a while they are willing to lend me one of their loaner bikes. Another idea for Grungebob would be to have/get/keep maintained a back up bike. I do not expect my LBS to give me a break/deal on parts. There are sites out there which perhaps have deals but if I purchase there I do the work myself. Instead my shop gives me a fair price or parts and equipment but what I gain and save on each time is the knowlege and stuff I've learned each time I go in. Grunge mentions that another shop is better for repairing neglected bikes. I would say that it's best to not neglect our bikes in the first place and then expect our shops to perform miracles when we've wacked wheels out of true, neglected to clean and lube the bike. The thing I LOVE about our bike shops is that they (and the bikes at my fave shop are not cheap, they cost what a non cycling friend calls "car money") anyway back to what I was saying the thing I love about my fave shops is they treat me and my classic Italian road bike as well as they treat me (and others) rescued from the dumpster bikes. The difference is that WE treat our bikes with respect. So do your regular maintainence, learn to do a few things yourself, keep your bikes clean, lubed and loved. And when things are really beyond your skills bring them to your local bike shop. When I go I expect to wait, maybe my wrench is helping someone, maybe someone was there first, I may have to wait for the repair, it's ok. But bring your wrench a beer or chocolate because ..... GrungerBob, we .... can't .... ride without them.

      love this place!

I got an Aveda stylist haircut in Seattle and loved it, wanted to continue so I found this place. Vine st is an independent salon, not owned by Aveda but they do sell the products. What keeps me coming back is the great service and styling.

Must admit that I have not ....

.... eaten at the deli. I mean to do that and make a special trip. But I have had the pies picked up at the farm market. I found "the help" helpful. They answered questions, welcomed feedback (I've found their classic chicken pot pie to be delicious but more highly seasoned than the pot pies of my youth. I craved something not bland but just that, classic). At the farm market the crew handled the crowd with style, quickly efficiently and well. The pies are awesome, crust light and crisp, ingredients fresh! They knew all the different pies, styles, seasonings, made suggestions based on my questions like if you need vegetarian options. As for the deli I can't speak to that yet. This is not fast food. When eating out I do expect efficient service but that's so I can eat and leisurely enjoy.

Can a doughnut be worth $2.50?

Note, probably less if you buy AT the store. Early one morning in need of a pre-work snack I stopped at Farley's (probably my next review) and the doughnuts called out to me. Small, compact, with the look of real food on top like real coconut, dense rich chocolate I ordered one. "$2.50?!!" I thought. I went ahead and got it. Oh that first bite, and the 2nd and .... dense cake but not heavy, chocolaty and just sweet enough. Not that hit you in the back of the head sugar rush, nor is the chocolate bitter/too dark. How can I put this, perfectly chocolaty. And their vegan but who cares. If you want a doughnut you'd serve as desert with a simple but gourmet dinner, one that goes as well with a nice red wine as a morning jolt of joe .... these are those.
