Beer~!
The best hangout place ever! My friends and I would go there every Monday for their late-nite happy hour. The waiters and bartender were great to talk to, their beers were great, the appetizers tasty (loved the garlic fries and chicken quesadilla), and their martinis were yummy (canteloupe was my personal favorite). At first I thought the place was only good for beer and appetizers, but when I tried their entrees (I've had their burger, halibut, spinach salad, etc), OH MY GOD! They were pretty darn tasty. I admit the food did take a little long sometimes, but a nice glass of their hef will fill that void nicely. And you can't blame them... I've only seen two people working the whole kitchen for a huge crowd that has been drawn in by their $2 beers. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go for quite some time now, but I sure hope it is still the same when I go again.

One of my worst experiences
The food is always good at the BCD Tofu Houses. I love the tofu soup and all the little dishes that come out with them. If a restaurant rating was based solely on food, I would rate this place a 4. The bad service we received made me take out 2 stars. We waited 30min before they finally took our order and another good hour to get our first dish.... It wasn't even a full house! Having worked as a waitress myself, I would consider myself pretty lenient on rating service. But when no one came by after waving our hands (you would think they would notice 6 pairs of arms in the air) and pushing the call button on the table, some of us were getting pretty upset. We were just about to give up and leave when they brought out some of our order. Not only was the waiter not apologetic about the long wait, he splashed the hot soup all over the table. I only got a few drops on my skin (most of what got on me was on my shirt, luckily it wasn't white), but if I had been closer to the table we would've had a serious problem. I would definitely reccommend going to a different BCD location for your tofu soup fix.

Shibucho

Perfect for the sushi-maniac
During my lifetime, I have had the opportunity to enjoy sushi at various places; from kaiten-zushi restaurants to "special occasion" sushi restaurants in Japan & LA. And I have to say, Shibucho is one of the best I have had. Good fish on not-too-vinegary rice packed into a nice bite-size piece. And to top it off, he has an amazing wine list to pair with his sushi. You don't see too many sushi retaurants with French wine from the 60s (maybe even older??). If you're used to the spicy tuna rolls and california rolls that are covered in mayo and chili sauce, the sushi here may seem too bland for you.... But if you're looking for authentic sushi where you can actually savor the flavors of the fish itself, this is the place. This restaurant is never too full (I think the location does not do them justice...) so you get great service. And the cozy feel of the restaurant makes it comfortable for a nice long leisurely dinner.
