I have not been to the Museum since I was a child. But, now that I'm involved in Chrisitan Education at church and would like to plan outings for the kids--and personally as well--I need more information than this site offers. What I 'd like to see is the costs for children and adults for admission, places to park and costs, places to eat within walking distance and other entertainment within walkng distance. This information provides important elements for planning and financial management. Gas prices and lack of raises makes us have to do with less, but we still want our children and ourselves to enjoy our resources. Please change the website to provide this information. Thanks for your consideration of my comments.

This is a great place to spend the day with wonderful exhibits highlighting North Carolina's vibrant past! You must checkout the New Deal exhibit, with photos taking from the 1930s and 1940s. It gives you a glimpse into the hardships North Carolinians faced during that time period. Also, I LOVED the Call to Arms exhibit because it was very interactive. There were replications of what a typical Civil War soldier had to carry while marching, that you could actually TOUCH and HOLD! Overall, the day spent at the museum was a wonderful experience, and I learned a GREAT deal about North Carolina!!

We have loved this museum for years, and we really enjoy ourselves every time we go. There's something for everyone! They have a variety of exhibits, ranging from decorative arts, to the Civil War and the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame. We're very excited to see construction has started on their newest permanent exhibit, which will chronicle the complete history of the state. There are also a ton of great programs designed for kids. (Their website and Facebook page have frequent updates about upcoming programs, so check often!) The museum even has a great gift shop, full of crafts, books and other things from all across the state.\r The museum is also in a great location. It's across the plaza from the Museum of Natural Science, adjacent to the Capitol, and just a short walk from a bunch of restaurants and the Raleigh Convention Center.

I agree with the previous poster that the exhibits were somewhat random. Although the NC Sports Hall of Fame and NC's Roll in Wars exhibits were right on the money, I was somewhat baffled by the temporary exhibit called ""Art Duck""... it's an exhibit devoted to the history of ducks in pop culture. While the decoy ducks were beautiful, I couldn't believe they included the game ""Duck Hunt"" in the exhibit. Visit the Native American exhibits & the classic cars.

Do you know anything about NC history? You are not likely to learn it on a visit here. The facility is beautiful; unfortunately the exhibits are so random and without focus that one wonders why they bothered building it. Good luck finding any coherent view of the development of North Carolina - you'll have to settle for walking through the NC Sports Hall of Fame instead. There also is a ton of wasted space that could be used - walk through the Museum of Natural History - which grabs your attention immediately - and you will see what I mean.\r \r The only plus is that some of the children's programs are good, with excellent staff. However, your kids are not going to want to stick around after the program.\r

I was very impressed with all the exhibits that this museum offered. It offered everything from sports to the civil war, including facts on the history of medicine. I enjoyed my experience and think it would be an excellent learning opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the history of North Carolina.
