Raleigh Orthopedic Clinic is excellent. When I fell and broke three fingers, I went to this orthopedic urgent care on Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh. I was quickly seen by Dr. Schreiber, a surgeon who specializes in hand surgery. Everyone I encountered was wonderful, from the staff in the urgent care, to the medical team, the radiology technicians, the OR team, and the hand therapists. The urgent care, doctors' offices, x-ray department, surgical center and hand therapy unit are all in one building. It was all very convenient and the wait times were always short. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been having the pre-op lab work and EKG in the same place, but I was able to go to Rex Hospital nearby and have the testing done quickly without an appointment. Dr Schreiber is very kind and explained everything clearly. He did a fantastic job operating on my fingers. They have healed beautifully. All of the staff in the Hand Therapy unit are extremely knowledgeable and helped me so much. I am grateful for the great care and friendliness from every person I encountered. I highly recommend this facility!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Although carpal tunnel syndrome does not typically require surgery, in severe cases, it can lead to persistent numbness and irreversible damage to the muscles of the thumb. The goal of the procedure is to release pressure on the median nerve. This is done by making a small incision in the ligament that covers the nerve in order to give it more room. This is typically an outpatient procedure and can be done under general or local anesthesia.

Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic is Wake County’s oldest orthopaedic practice. Our roots in providing orthopaedic medicine to central and eastern North Carolina can be traced back to 1919, when our original founders, Dr. Hugh Thompson, Dr. Walter Hunt, and Dr. Thomas Dameron opened Wake County’s first general surgery practice with a focus in Orthopaedics, and in 1959, these three surgeons named the practice Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic (ROC).

The Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Panther Creek opened in September 2020. A partnership between Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic, UNC Rex, and UNC Health provides patients with orthopedic surgical excellence of all orthopedic injuries in an outpatient setting. This 24,290 square foot facility is the second outpatient surgery center in the Triangle to specialize exclusively in orthopedics, and will give thousands of patients easier access to high-quality, cost-effective orthopedic services each year.
Arthroscopy
Utilizing small surgical cameras and tools, a hip arthroscopy will allow minimally invasive repair of the hip joint and also reveal to doctors any further damage in the area. A common use of arthroscopy is to repair a torn hip labrum.
