I recently hired All American relocation to move my office furniture from my office to an a vacant store front three doors down (less than 500 yards) and then back to my office over the weekend of June25th. After the move, my desk had gouges all along the side of it and the drawers no longer closed properly. My administrative assistant’s desk had a two inch scratch on it. A wooden side table has been handled so roughly that two legs were detached and had blue marks on them. Lastly, a kitchen chair had also been damaged.

Brett Plumber, the owner, was very difficult to work with and in the end, I am stuck with damaged furniture.

I would not recommend anyone entrust anything of value to All American relocation. Their website states they will do “whatever it takes” but there is nothing further from the truth.

I highly recommend All American Relocation Inc. Here is why: To begin with, I received an accurate estimate, as well as excellent advice concerning insurance for our heirloom and antique pieces.

On moving day, the movers arrived right on time. They were skillful, efficient, polite, professional, and highly resourceful (we were moving from an old house with a narrow stairway and with other challenges). The movers gave each piece their full attention, and they took care with details (for example, they bagged and taped to the furniture any screws or hardware that would be needed for reassembly).

The office staff were courteous, and they always returned my calls. We had a major complication on our end that required a delay in unloading our furniture. This they handled with grace and professionalism.

"Whatever it takes" is their motto, and they exemplify it.

Is there more to this story?

You need to consider a mover based on more than just their cost of services… while local competitors costs may be less, would you get what you pay for? Are their employees background checked? Is the company recognized nation wide for its accomplishments? There are too many complaints found online about movers that are careless, damage many items, add many charges to a move after it’s in their possession. How far did you have to move? Across town or state to state? If your shipment was late, did you check to see if you qualified for a delay settlement? If your move was state to state those tariffs have a delay compensation you may have qualified for. You don’t mention any damages, just a missing box… did the company attempt to locate it and that was the delay in immediate reimbursement? It doesn’t sound like they took it and said, “Oh, lets give her a quick settlement at the lowest amount.” Based on the time it sounds like they did try to locate it and then offered settlement based upon your chosen valuation. Unless you opted to pay for additional coverage? If you chose a higher valuation and your claim was settled for less, you should check into their claim dispute program. Many movers – and All American Relocation is a Mayflower agent, participate in a federally mandated arbitration program. If you truly had an heirloom within your shipment, why wouldn’t you choose to purchase additional valuation to help ensure it was covered in the case of loss or damage? All in all, in reviewing All American Relocation’s website they have top recognition awards from Mayflower with multiple quality and customer service awards. Did I miss something?

BEWARE!

All-American relocation is a mover that should be avoided at all costs. They are considerably more expensive than local competitors, were several days late for the promised delivery date, and did not deliver everything intact. Specifically, the box labeled "Plasma TV Stand" magically disappeared from all of our other boxes (smacks of thievery). Of course, when we reported the missing box, all we saw was red tape. 3 months later, I kid you not, they send a check for $36 for what we estimated at $300 of lost items, not to mention an irreplaceable heirloom. The best part is the letter that accompanied the check. To quote, "We realize this is considerably less than expected, but in accordance with the regulations that govern our industry, we are prohibited from paying a sum in excess of our legal liability, which in this instance has been established by the Bill of Lading at 60 cents per pound per article."

Basically, All-American demands a huge lump sum payment up front, may deliver all of your goods, probably won't do it on time, and if they lost something YOU have to pay for it because the "regulations" that govern their industry apparently prohibit accountability.

Caveat emptor!
