My husband and I had dinner at Orchid with our 2 yr old this evening. We were graciously welcomed into a clean comfortable dining room with pleasant music and waited on like King, Queen and Prince! My husband and I shared delicious green tea and Nigori sake while our son drank water brought in a special cup by the waiter. We then proceeded to share a delectable meal together from the "buffet" menu = 24.95 each for my husband and I (our son was free bc under 3yrs). I write "buffet" bc as others have noted the menu is really "all you can eat" brought to your table as opposed to true "buffet". We were given a button to push whenever we needed service and our table was stocked with paper menus and pencil to order at want. Our dinner: miso soup (which my son drank straight from the bowl and could not get enough so we ordered more for him!), seaweed salad (straightforward and fresh), pork dumplings with sweet/sour sauce (big hit), chicken udon (not greasy but full of flavor), and sushi. The sushi was fresh and delicious! My husband and I are sushi fanatics but it was our son's first sushi experience; and we all loved it! We had the dragon roll, tuna roll, rainbow roll, spicy girl roll, spicy tuna roll, and a crab/avocado roll with masago. Everything was made perfectly! Our waiter explained that their concept is to mimic Chinatown (such as in NYC or SanFran) where small portions of multiple entrees are brought out in succession - which I liken to tapas -Asian style. Although it is better than tapas or Chinatown bc you only pay one price no matter how much you order! If you want to only order a few apps/rolls/entrees then you can pick and choose from an individually priced menu. So really there is an option for every budget. We will be frequenting this restaurant and wish it all the success it deserves!
Absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. I usually order the sesame chicken (so juicy, and with the perfect amount of kick) and the vegetable spring rolls (amazing!), but have also tried the ginger beef & broccoli, and the teriyaki beef, and I pretty much always have to try their seasonal specialty, and have yet to be disappointed with anything I have eaten here. Currently the special is some kind of pineapple caramel cashew dish, and it has tied the sesame chicken for my favorite. I almost always get my food to go and it's always been ready before the time they quoted me. However I have dined in at least 3 times, and despite previous comments, there has never been a problem with food taking too long, problems with servers, etc. All the employees I have encountered have been fine, and the service is always quicker than I expect. I love, love, love this place and will continue to eat there about once a week.
We've eaten Lebanese food all over the world, but Shish Kabob remains one of our favorites, simply because the food really is Lebanese food. We can get the kind of pickles we like, they'll put French fries in our sandwiches, and the hommous isn't ruined by extra ingredients. It's value priced, too - perfect place for a fast meal or take out. Shish Kabob has the best tabbouli anywhere in the Triangle - it tastes just like your Siti made it. All of their food is wonderful - fresh and delicious. Nice folks, too. They always customize our shawarma for us. We live out of town, but when we go to Raleigh, we always make a point to eat at Shish Kabob. They have the best Lebanese food that we know of - even better than most of the sit down restaurants we've tried. Love their lamb kabobs and their salads!
