I was introduced to the Angus Barn by friends (John & Shirley) whilst on holiday. Before writing this review I have read through some of the reviews listed below and first off I could not recommend the Chop House as one reviewer suggested as just by chance the day before we were due to go to the AB and staying at the nearby Marriott I called into the Chop House and asked to view the menu. They basically looked at me as if I should not be there !!!! So much for warm and welcoming. Moving on. At the Angus Barn the maitre'd was friendly and welcoming later in the evening he gave us a guided tour of the restuarant, kitchen, wine cellar and function rooms. The service was quite acceptable and as visitors the waitress took time to explain items on the menu and how the food was to be cooked. For those who claim bad food why didn't you complain ? We were asked on two seperate occasions if everything was alright. We had no cause for complaint our steaks were excellent and cooked as requested. The appetiser of beef ribs was such that I could quite happily eaten more as a main. The evening at the Angus Barn, which we shared with our friends was truely wonderful. Give it a try.
I had the recent pleasure of finding a little known place called "The Point" If you dont know exactly where it is, you may drive right by it! (I have 100 times! the regulars know where it is though!) Its at 5 Points, next to Rialto Theater, & we all know where that is. I happen to go to Rialto on a date & was quite pleased to discover this cozy, comfortable, laidback & DELICIOUS restaurant! I was so impressed that I asked to meet the Chef. Although Chef Alan Phillips hasent been at "The Point" for quite a long time, you can tell by his cuisine...he's been there long enough to prove he's not an amatuer & takes pride in what he does! Chef takes his menu quite serious & you can taste it in all he offers on his menu! From his daily specials (which are out of this world) to pizza(I noticed the pizzas are cooked in a wood fire brick oven, cozy!) pastas, seafood & prime rib on Friday! There is something for everyone on this menu! This place is so affordable & fun to be at, its no wonder its always so busy! I notice they dont take reservations right now, but my bet is; with Chef Alan Phillips being there..they soon will!
I'll begin by saying my 5-Star review is based on the understanding that this place is going for simplicity and purposely keeps it old school. It is a CASH only business, with limited sitting space. The hot dogs are not very big and the place doesn't have any Windows. When you hear all this you'd think I'd give this place a 1-star. But the Hotdogs ARE delicious and those folks are not going for the demands of modern society. This is clearly a husband and wife business where everyone knows each other and where you can have a Hot Dog and a Glass Bottle Coca-Cola Classic for $3.50. SIMPLE! If you're in the area you have to check it out.
