Overall, Alamo is a good rental company. Newer vehicles, good service, shuttle to and from RDU. Unfortunately, one bad apple can spoil a good experience and reflect badly on the company - and earn only a 3 star rating for this review. Renters with full coverage personal auto insurance are covered in a rental. However, one rogue Alamo agent failed to disclose that fact, instead forcing Alamos auto insurance on me at check in. I freaked when I saw the bill for a discounted rate rental! I'm betting the company has had prior complaints about this guy, and the manager I lodged a complaint with quickly remedied the situation. The takeaway is to not allow this situation to occur the next time you rent. Save yourself the panic of seeing a crazy bill by knowing your rights ahead of time. Contact your insurance agent prior to renting a car to understand your personal coverage in a rental car!
Very good experience with Alamo, except i could not contact the local location where i was to return the car (at CLT), after many attempts by the Alamo toll free number to ring through to them, and my own attempts. When i called the toll free # and pressed the option to get directions to return the car, the man said he couldnt help me with that. The return location address he gave me was incorrect, and thus my mapquest led me astray -- the return location was acdtually within the airport. Otherwise things went well, but it's important to be given a local number to contact for this very reason, and even when i left a voice mail at the local #, they never called back. Very frustrating. Better leave early if you're booking a one way rental and havent been to that location before, leave time to be misled.
It was a great service, I was able to pick up and drop off the car without waiting. You also have very friendly staff. I switched to Enterprise Rent-A-Car for a reason. In April 2015 I was Raleigh in one of your neighborhood car rental place to pick up a car, there was a very long line and it took over an hour to get one. While I was standing in line at that place, I was observing to see what was going on at Enterprise. Enterprise customers were able to go in and leave with cars without long waiting. Few people who were tired of waiting where I was, were able to walk across to Enterprise and received fast service. For my December trip, I made reservation at Enterprise, and your service was excellent. My observation paid off. I will use your service in my next trip. Thank you,
