This is my new favorite local eatery. Three of us went this a.m. to celebrate a birthday (a traditional "breakfast for your birthday") and chose Kiss the Cook because it just opened recently. Cute decor, very friendly staff, and a really huge assortment on the menu. Yes it takes more than 5 minutes to get your food, but it's all freshly cooked to order. I had the Quiche (see the first photo at the top of the page), which had just come out of the oven. Accompaniments were hash browns (crispy at my request) and an assortment of seasonal fresh fruit. Lots of different & interesting omelets on the menu, flapjacks & french toast, and specialties like Eggs Benedict. Can't wait to try it for lunch. Moderate prices, good coffee.
U-Bake Racine is awesome. Mike and Nancy are so helpful. You can walk in there, give them an idea and they will plan a party around it! I love to have some of their meatballs, pasta, marinara, and bread on hand for a last minute get together. Top it off with some of their cookies and you have an impressive meal in minutes for any guest! All of the U-Bake products are such quality that you never have to worry about how they will turn out. If you haven't tried U-Bake, you are in for a surprise!
Mike & Angelos makes a thin crust pizza like the kind that used to be made at Brusha's, a Racine institution prior to their closing 15 or 20 years ago. Although I grew up in Kenosha, I am a retired Navy guy who has eaten pizza in a lot of places and I have never had pizza as good as Brusha's and now, Mike & Anglelos. Their fish and chicken are almost as good as their pizza but I rarely eat them because everytime I go there I am in need of a best-pizza fix.
