Horribly rude salesperson (Jeff I think?) helps run this store. I'm an experienced guitarist and play professionally on a regular basis. But that didn't stop him from treating me like a homeless bum when I came in to consider purchasing my 3rd acoustic guitar from GLSGC. When the guitar tech who also helps in the showroom essentially told me that I'm not allowed to play more than 2-3 guitars per visit (and then only if I plan to purchase one), I asked him if he was really telling me that I should leave. He flatly told me that unless I described exactly the sound I was looking for so that he could help me find it, I had no business being in the store. The body language and tone of his voice was bordering on hostile when he walked into the room where I was trying out a guitar. How is that a successful sales approach?
As I find this business model to be extremely unreasonable and condescending, I informed him that despite the fact that I had already purchased 2 guitars from them over the years (and had not been required to play along with their stupid new sales tactic) I would not be returning or purchasing from them again. His response (I'm not kidding) was "Good. We don't want your business." I have never experienced such atrocious customer service in my life. Truly. Look, I can respect his point of view (to a small degree). But there is no excuse for treating a paying customer (and I might add, a repeat customer) like that.
He blathered on for some time about not wanting to stay late to have to change guitar strings that were played by too many people as one of his reasons for this ridiculous sales strategy. I hope the honest reviews I will be posting elsewhere are worth the few extra minutes he saved from not having to change those guitar strings I played.
By the way, the first thing I did when I entered the store was go to their restroom to wash my hands to ensure that no extra oil was on my fingers so as to not contaminate his precious guitar strings. Not to mention, their guitars are nothing special. They have a nice collection of them, to be sure. And they do include some nice custom built ones (which I never touched, by the way). But the majority of these guitars aren't necessarily high-end instruments. Certainly not worth the snobbery that I experienced by the staff. Were these high-end Gibson or Taylor acoustic guitars, I might understand being treated like I was. But, seriously? For $300-900 guitars? Give me a break!

I have had so many good experiences at the Great Salt Lake Guitar store. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and loves to help others and answer questions. The guitars are all of the highest quality. Go to this store for all your needs.
