I've been going to the Tabernacle to see shows ever since they converted this space for the Olympics (it was a House of Blues back then). It's a great place to see a concert and boy is it LOUD! I know I'm getting older, but every time I go there I tell myself I need to bring earplugs next time. I love the SRO floor space. Just watch out for the barely marked "aisles" (rubber runners on the floor). Security tries to keep them open and to control crowds will often not let you back near the stage if you have to leave for a drink. The first balcony is great too - more mellow but close to the action. The upper balcony is not bad either but the sound isn't nearly as good and this seems to be the loudest part of the venue. Plus you really are way up high. Don't miss out on a chance to see a concert at this converted Baptist tabernacle in downtown and be sure to drop by Sidebar before or after - it's just a few blocks away.

Buckhead Backlot, now named Buckhead Fork and Screen, is a great theater to watch a movie. Not only do you get to sit in comfortable lounge chairs, but waiters bring you food, from hamburgers and alcohol to popcorn in a bowl. If you don't have time for dinner and a movie, you can do both at the same time here. And even if you aren't hungry, the comfortable lounge chairs make for a better experience than stiff standard movie theater seats where someone tall in front of you may block part of your view.
It's gotta be tough to run a movie theater in this economy. So I applaud Georgia Lafont for giving this venue a try after so many others have failed in this location. But if anyone remembers George's Garden Hills theater, they'll remember how dirty it was. Well he's Sandy Springs location is not far behind. Please George up your game! Clean the carpet, repaint, and how about putting tablecloth on the tables. I will say it's nice to be able to have wine served but do wish it was not so bloody expensive.
