Birchwood Kennels

I never actually took my dog to this kennel,however Dave was so nice and willing to take my Dog in an emergency. My father passed away suddenly, it was a Sunday and I couldn't get in touch with any other kennel. When I called Birchwood Dave answered the phone!! When I explained my situation, he actually told me he was sorry about my father. Then he told me to bring my Dog on in and we would work something out. Like I mentioned a friend ended up watching my dog and when I called Dave back he said no worries have a safe trip and God bless you. He was so kind in the emergency situation that I had to let others know. Thanks Dave keep up the exceptional work!

Birchwood Kennels are awesome! David and his team treat your fur babies like they are their own. We were gone for 10 days and they had a blast! David would text us with pictures and even face timed with us so we could actually see what they were doing during play time. When we arrived to pick them up they literally did not want to go home with us. They would run to us, then run back to David. One of our dogs even ran back through the door to the kennel area to say goodbye to all of the new friends she made. We will definitely utilize this facility over and over again. Grooming, bathing, doggie day care plus extended stays, only with Birchwood Kennels. It makes leaving them a little easier knowing they are having as much fun as you are!

So glad to have found an affordable but high quality home away from home for our lab. They took him in and treated him like family as soon as we arrived. Highly recommend

I was hesitant because of a bad experience at another kennel. But after talking with Dave the manager and leaving my dog with them for daycare I knew this was the place for my dog. The staff was nice and took great care of my dog abdominal sent me video and pictures while he was staying there. I highly recommend Birchwood kennels to anyone!

I have been a customer of Birchwood Kennels for over 26 years. I took my Cocker Spaniel there for grooming from the time she was a puppy until she died 13 years later. I now take my 13-year-old Border Collie and 3-year-old Shiatsu. In 26 years I have strayed from Birchwood three times, and regretted it every time. The atmosphere is wonderful. When driving up, there is a neat fenced in area for agility training, walking in is another fence where you can see the dogs that have indoor/outdoor runs just before the fish pond comes into view, which is in a beautiful setting that leads to a cozy cabin. with more fish, birds and Dave. Dave lives on site and is on top of everything! For Dave to forget a name is very unusual, and this is not because he is keeping an eye on the schedule. I have ran into him in the Powell community, and he will ask about my husband, son, and dogs..., all by name. Not only does Dave keep up with names, he is on top of every detail of what your dog is coming in for. He asks very specific questions to ensure the animal is treated to your expectations. He is also sure to let you know when it is time for your pets vaccination, and don't try to lie to him about it being done, because he will call your veterinarian to get a copy before you leave your dog. This makes me more inclined to use them because I know my animals aren't being exposed to a disease due to carelessness. Then there's Linda...., who is my favorite groomer of all times. When Chelsea was a puppy, Linda came in ON HER DAY OFF to acclimate her to grooming. She does a marvelous job on both dogs, and they love her. I've also snuck to the back a couple of times, and it is just as nice and comfortable as the front. If you're looking for pet care..., this is the place. Rob is a pretty good guy too!

Great experience! This was our first time boarding our puppy (Bailey) and after doing some research we decided to tour Birtchwood kennels. Dave showed us around and we were very impressed on how clean everything was. During our 10 days away Dave sent us multiple pictures and videos of Baileys playtime which set our minds at ease. Dave also made time to let us pick him up after hours on our return. We will not hesitate to use Birtchwood for our boarding needs in the future and have recommended them to friends.

After 5 years of being a dog owner and avoiding boarding my dogs, I finally started the search for a good kennel. My dogs are part of the family and as much as I wish I could take them everywhere with me, I can't. This being said, I took this boarding situation very seriously. I interviewed several facilities around town and was becoming very discouraged before a friend suggested Birchwood Kennels.



I was pleasantly surprised by Birchwood Kennels! The facility is clean (no odor or dinginess like I had seen at many other kennels), they play music throughout the kennels to help soothe the animals, the dogs have access to both the indoors and outdoors, and you can opt for extra playtime or walks!



The dogs started out with day boarding so that they could get used to being there, and we've worked up to an overnight stay. They just got home from their first night away from home, and they are doing great.



I've been really impressed by the manager, Dave, who has patiently answered all of my questions and phone calls. He is knowledgeable about the business and how to handle the animals. You can tell that he and the rest of the staff really care that the dogs are safe and comfortable.



I wouldn't trust just anyone with my dogs, and I'm thrilled to have found Birchwood!

My two chihuahuas have been staying here for over 5 years now. I don't ever worry about them when I am on the road. I travel for work at least 30-40% of the time and the fact that my dogs are in such amazing hands, it makes my life much easier and worry free.



Rob and Dave and the crew at Birchwood Kennels do an outstanding job and if you need care for your pets, give them the job...you won't regret it!

I've had the pleasure of living in Memphis, Nashville, and now Knoxville over the last several years, and I can say that Birchwood has been the best kennel that we have found in Tennessee!



When we moved to Knoxville early last year, we needed a kennel for our Puggle. A friend highly recommended Birchwood to us, and now we would not think of taking our dog anywhere else. Rob (owner), Dave, and the rest of the staff there are top notch, and you can tell that they truly care about every one of their "guests." Our dog absolutely loves Birchwood and the staff, and this has been the only place we've found like that.



On commenters that have left less than stellar reviews, I would say that Birchwood's pricing is extremely reasonable, and it has been very much in line with pricing policies (weekends/check-out times) that we have seen in our experiences across TN. For the quality of service received, I honestly expected to pay more. Also, I know that there are 2-sides to every story, so an angry comment or voicemail recorded and posted on the internet may not tell the complete story. The owner (Rob) and staff (Dave & crew) have been nothing but exceptional. I feel like if I ever did have a concern, I could easily discuss this with them in person, and we could resolve it quickly. That's what I look for in great customer service, and that's what I get at Birchwood.



Again, as someone relatively new to Knoxville and not new to kennels, I would highly recommend Birchwood Kennels to anyone that cares about their dog!
