AWS Roadside Assistance

Imagine driving on a 600 Mile trip and feeling the steering wheel suddenly tighten. You look down and see the Voltage and Temp warning lights. You quickly maneuver to the shoulder and get to a safe spot with traffic going 75+ MPH. What do you do next? You are in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday. No place to get your vehicle repaired.....



Well I called my insurance and they dispatched AWS towing. They arrived within 20 minutes and got the car hooked up and off we went. Once at a safer location Tony from AWS helped me determine what was wrong with the car. The Tension pulley bearing had failed which caused the serpentine belt to rip and Tony was not going to leave us stranded, "you'll be on the road in no time" he said. I left my wife and daughter with the car and off Tony and I went to Advance Auto Parts to get the bearing and a new belt.



What should have been a fairly easy change was not. This was a big deal as motor mounts had to be undone to get the belt into place around the motor bracket. This was a real pain with this car. Patiently we hacked away at it and finally after some good luck we got the belt around the bracket and using the diagram, made sure the belt was correctly installed. 3+ hours trying to find a way, limited tools to work with but a strong determination, we prevailed.



After cleaning up at a nearby gas station, We started the car and let it run. All was good. After making sure we were good to go, he had to go to another call as someone else needed some help.



I am here to tell you, I am so pleased with AWS and Tony. This was like when I was a kid, people helped people. He did what the insurance company had paid him to do, get my car off the highway and to a safe spot. He did not have to stay and bloody his knuckles along with me, but he did.



I am very grateful for his help, we drove another 350 miles and made it home.
