Best Pac Man

The Bitter End is a fun place to hang out. $1.50 PBR every night and $1.00 PBR on Mondays, which are also pub quiz nights. Comfy couches. Usually filled with smoke on a busy evening, but if you are there to watch a football game in the late afternoon it's not too full. Fun music on local mike night. Foosball is $.50. They have a sit down 2 player pac man game that is fun...if you can get to it. It's hidden by the change machine and puts you in the way of those making a pool shot from one side of the table. Other than that, recommended for a group of friends to hang out.

A good afternoon Bloody Mary...

We've come into the Bitter End a few times during the afternoon--and it is always completely dead. However, the bartenders are charming, helpful, and know how to make a drink. Not being too keen on the crowd this place gets during the evenings (or the bands that generally play there), afternoon is our best time for the Bitter End. They make a very good $8 Bloody Mary, and they'll even turn the volume up on the jukebox for you. A comfy sofa makes it all the better, especially during the day when it's available.

BitterSweet...

The Bitter End certainly has its ups and downs like any locale -- one reviewer said they waited 30 minutes for service, but may have forgotten that most authentic pubs take orders at the bar, the servers don't always come to your beck and call. The mixed drinks and specialty martinis are good, and the variety of music is appealing if you're open to a potpourri of musical styles. The pub grub is a bit on the pricey side for what you get, but it's tasty. TBE may not be fancy, but it's still a fun place to hang out.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

So these reviews ARE OFF by quite a bit. The picture must be from an IKEA store, not the bar. They do serve liquor, but they only have MAYBE 5 beers on tap. The music was pretty weak the night I went (since when is bluegrass country twang in?) and it was $5 at the door. $5? Yes. For $5 I expect a waiter at my side all night. Positives? The crowd seemed pretty chill.

Hip and Comfortable

My first visit to The Bitter End was just a few months ago, and ever since I've been a regular. The atmosphere very bright and inviting, the furniture definitely adds to the character. They even have pool tables, a personal favorite of mine. They also have great live music!

Personal Favorite

These must be old reviews...they have liquor. The way the main room is set up is great for social purposes. The furniture is huge and comfortable and people mix even unintentionally. The live music is always well-chosen. The bartenders are all friendly despite being swamped. There is a small frat-boy element, but it's very minor and they seem to congregate around the foos ball table in the corner. Out of sight, out of mind. I think it's a good crowd and I have a tendency to look down my nose at unsavory types.
