cozy spot to stop in downtown

My husband and I have been stopping at the Hilton Bistro bar when we are downtown shopping or going to shows. They have a decent happy hour (food but no drink specials) and a classic, cozy atmosphere. However, you never know what you are going to get when it comes to service. While one of the waitresses is super friendly and efficient, there is another one that seems to have a chip on her shoulder. We have solved this problem in the past by sitting in the bar if she is working because we do not want to deal with her.

perfect spot for a casual dinner or drink!

This downtown bar is perfect for a bite or drink after work. Also stop by before or after a show for happy hour! They have great specialty drinks options and awesome clams!

Worst Service Ever

The absolutely WORST service I have ever encountered anywhere. There were only about three tables with people at them on a Friday night, so that should say something. After our order was ready, and our food placed on the service counter, our waiter was nowhere in sight. There was plenty of waitstaff, but who knows where they all went. Strangely enough, the cook staff disappeared too. Hmmm, makes you wonder what they were doing behind the kitchen doors? Our food was left on the service counter for about 10 minutes before anyone finally came out and bothered to bring it to us. We could see our food sitting there getting cold and wondering where was our waiter? When the waiter did come to our table, he asked my toddler grandchild if she wanted more chocolate milk and she said no. He looked at her in surprise and said """"You don't want more? I can bring you more."" I was like ""Dude, she said no. Just drop it."" It was weird and uncomfortable and I will never go back. The food was so-so. Nothing special.

Save your money

We had not tried this place, but it was convenient to the Schitz for New Years Eve concert and went with high hopes. UGH! The service was just fine. We chose the New Year's Sepecials (one filet mignon and one halibut dinner). The soup was good...an onion bisque that was creamy and tasteful. It all went wrong from the salad on: the salad had what tasted like only pure vinegar as a dressing, burned my mouth, and dwarfed any taste from the few fresh raspberries, walnuts and gorgonzola. The entrees were both horrible: WAY overcooked, tough, dry and flavorless. The side dishes were unimaginative...and very sub-par. Even the dessert sucked....so dry on top....you could only imagine that cheesecake had been sitting for a week before being served. At the end of the day, spending nearly $85 for dinner and tip was a huge rip off and we'll never go back.

Worst food ever!

The service at this restaurant was good; the staff was very nice when we first sat down. However the food was horrible; very dry and extremely salty. We received our bill and when we wanted to pay nobody was around. We went up to the counter and waited for about 10 minutes. There wasn't anybody in the restaurant but us. We will never go back.

Very Good Food, Good Service

We have been going to the bistro for years. Only once have we had poor service, and I do not think that waiter is around any longer. The food is fantastic, and for the portions and quality you are getting, it is a great value.

Excellent Food, Superior Service, Reasonable Prices, great location

This was an awsome restaurante, my family and I went here prior to the Bill Engvall Show at the Arlene Schnittzer Concert Hall. The seating was prompt and the service was consistently helpful. The food was awsome I had the special a crab pasta with sun dried tomatoes. My boyfriend had the seafood fettucine, it had a lot of lobster and sea food for only 15.95. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a casual meal thats not over priced in the downtown area. I think I'm going to go back for lunch again.. You can get burgers, pizza, steak, seafoods, all kinds of things from 7.95 to 29.95.

We thought it was great!

A friend and I tried Bistro 921 because it was in my Entertainment book and was close to the Winningstad Theatre, where we were going to a musical. She had steak, I had seafood, and they were both great. The waiter was friendly and helpful, and very sweet and funny. The atmosphere was pleasant and the location was wonderful. I'm not sure what the person who wrote the previous review was talking about, because it wasn't our experience at all. The food tasted great and the presentation was excellent. The wine was reasonably priced too. It wasn't crowded, so we were seated immediately. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Worst experience of my life

First experience with this establishment - et up with some friends for drinks and appetizers. Found the food medicore at best (the pizza was dough with sauce and cheese) and found the service staff's attitude extremely unpleasant. I would never go back, nor would I ever recommend this place, which has no concept of customer service, to anyone I know. When I feel compelled to leave a big fat donut as a tip, something is really wrong!
