This is a great place to go for live music, and they make one of the best margaritas in town, muddled lime and everything. Watch out, though, for the older chubby lady bartender with long blonde hair. If you’re not paying attention, she will beyond doubt try to shortchange you. Last night I gave her a $100.00 and she gave me back change for a $20.00, trying to play it off as a simple mistake. I knew different however, because this is the second time she’s made this “mistake” with me. Last time it was a fifty. I didn’t tip her, so for the rest of the night she wouldn’t serve me, skipped over me and told me to “f*&@k right off” the next time I came up to the bar. I talked to two other patrons about it and, lo and behold, they too had stories of shortchange “mistakes” in the past with this woman. Go to the Ash Street by all means. It really is a great place. But avoid this woman like the plague. Use the other bar in the music room or get your drinks from the wait staff.
Kells is your typical Irish pub…in a good way. The staff is friendly, it’s clean, and you do feel a bit Irish when you’re in there. One nice thing about Kells was that they didn’t plaster the entire place with Guinness paraphernalia and shout, “OK NOW WE’RE AN IRISH PUB!” The décor was cool and fun to look at. They’ve got a big huge stone fireplace to welcome you when you walk in, a good number of tables and cozy private booths, and also a large bar to sit at. Our waiter told us that they have live music 7 days a week, including an open jam session on Sundays. Pretty cool. See photos of kells here http://www.thebeerfather.com
I went to this club with my two friends and boyfriend. It was very humid inside from it being packed and everyone breathing heavy, no AC to the best of my knowledge. The music was great if you like techno and TONS of bass. The scene was good. Lots of different types of people. Escape is LGBTQ friendly. No alcohol but a good atmosphere overall. Cover charge was a little on the upper side ($15). 2-3 bathroom stalls. The bathrooms were unisex so it was kind of awkward. Boxes to stand on and be the center of attention on the dance floor. The staff was very friendly. In the end, I enjoyed my time there but I wouldn't go back again.
