We dined at 555 for the first time last evening. I say "for the first time", as I'm very sure it won't be the last. The hostess (or receptionist) was welcoming and we were seated promptly as we chose not to sit in the bar. We were waiting for another couple and they were due very soon. Oh yes, our coats were taken and deposited in at coat room somewhere, which I found to be a very nice touch. The staff were all polite, knowledgeable, friendly without being intrusive, and top notch at their various duties. What can I say about our dining experience, specifcally the food. I am tempted to list what I had to eat, but I'm going to refrain as this could become a novel. It was superb, splendid, a gastronic delight, marvelous, creative, beautifully presented and all in all wonderful. The wine with the meal was also excellent. This was so much more than eating out. It was a DINING EXPERIENCE. Thank you and all the staff at your fine establishment. I haven't touched on the building itself, but will just say that I enjoyed the surroundings and think they are well done and compliment the whole experience. BRAVO!!!
Although the store front is narrow, the property is deep. The out door patio is very nice. The decor is rustic, with black & white photos on the wall inside. The bathrooms are clean and the wait staff really hustles. We both ordered off of the daily special board. We both got clam chowder (New England style) which was thick and hearty. I had the Maine fried shrimp & fries, my wife had the fried clam strips & fries. Both of our platters were heaped and it proved to be more than we could eat, despite being delicious. We had no room left for desert, like the chocolate cake we saw one customer being served when we arrived. If the cake tasted even half as good as it look, it must have been delightful. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to both friends or family. Dress casual.
I have known and been watching this establishment since it was a fledgling new concept. The food has been only the best. Never in all the meals I have had here has there even been an oops. Local ingredients are used to enhance the fresh atmosphere and flavors. The owner has gone to great lengths to find the best wines from around the world to accompany his menu. This is truly a fine dining experience worth the trip as a destination location. No one entre speaks out loud above the rest with possible exception of the double thick pork chops roasted on a spit, a long time house favorite. The bread from Standard Baking is a must but do not fill up on it, save room for your dinner. Definitely make reservations as early as possible. Go relax and enjoy a great dinning experience.
