Mercedes-Benz of Pompano

People are really friendly and give amazing service

I am a Mercedes fan and i have always bought Mercedes. I love this brand. Unfortunately less than 60 days ago I had a very bad experience when I went to the Mercedes-Benz of Pompano (Florida) dealer to buy a 7 years old beautiful 500SL Mercedes roadster.



The car was beautiful and imaculate. The sales persons Carla and Franck where very nice and told me all about the 120 points waranty that was coming on the used cars sold by this dealer.



The problem is that after just 30 miles i noticed that a liquid was liking from the front right side. At that point i thought that it was the AC dripping and did not worry about it since i had to leave on a business trip. When i came back i took my wife to Miami (90 miles round trip) and i went a few times to restaurants in Boca Raton driving a total of 150 miles roughtly. At that point, backing up to park i started to feel some crancking noises coming from the front right side part so i decided to take it back to the dealer for a check up on this noise and specially since Franck and Carla had told me that there was a 60 days waranty which would be covering anything going wrong with the car...



At that point i thought "this will be minor and easily replaced by the garage in the warranty period by Mercedes of Pompano who have done a 120 points check on the car"....but i was wrong...as it turned out the issue was a broken hydraulic suspension with hydrolic oil which was dripping.

"No problem as i was thinking that the 60 days insurance will take care of this"



Well as it turned out i was wrong... the insurance ended up covering the mount but not the hydraulic broken part... i was stunned realizing tha they had sold me a broken car but even more that a Mercedes dealer was not going to assume any responsability...and was going to ask me to pay for all of it as if i had broken the car driving 150 miles...i was stunned....



So I decided to see the sales persons explaining to them that they sold me a broken car and I met with the sales manager expecting him to make the repairs or to at least suggest to cover a partial part of the costs of the repair since i thought he would be ashame to have sold a broken car to a Mercedes long time customer...



As it turned out he told me with a large grim on his face that "I had been out of luck and that the car had broken after i left from his garage, so he could not do anything about it" ...... I could not believe that he would not even mention to give me a partial compensation. All I got was a big sorry with a huge salesman smile... At this point i felt really mad because I felt cheated.



This is not about the money as the total repair costs were barely $1200 dollars which i have no problem to assume, but to me it is clearly a lack of respect for the customers that got me really pissed off.



I know that i was purchasing a used car which would need replacement parts at one point in the future and i was ok with it. But what i cannot accept is that this Mercedes of Pompano dealership is able to sell a broken car to a customer who drives it less than 150 miles and that they can't recognize that they did a poor job at checking the car... or possibly did not check it at all...



I have promised my wife to buy her a SLK in a few month but i can assure you that i will never go back to this dealer for this purchase....what a shame! I think that i'll convince her that the Porsche Boxter is much better for her.



Anyway, this dealership is not giving a good image to the Mercedes brand... if you need to buy a car do NOT BUY from this dealer...or if you do, make sure to bring your mechanic with you. Remeber that they do not check their used cars.



Now that i think about it, this dealer is not better than a down the street used car dealer...

This is not what i was expecting from Mercedes-Benz of Pompano....really not...and it is the last time that they will see me there. Do not go there....
