The Pomona Valley Mining Company is a restaurant located in the hills of Pomona that boasts a panoramic view of the Pomona Valley. In the tradition of the mining days of Silverado canyon, the restaurant is patterned after the grubberies and saloons frequented by the prospectors. Relics displayed within are genuine artifacts of the mining era. The menu features a variety of steaks, chicken, pasta and barbecued pork and beef ribs. We are renowned for our Sunday Champagne Brunch, a very special (and tasty) way to spend your Sunday.
This place is super romantic! Dim and cozy with amazing food and service. The view is awesome, overlooking the valley lights. After dinner on Friday, you can go to the lounge and dance. They have good bands and the drinks are reasonable. This is a great place to go for your date night.
Last night 7/4/2008 I stopped to have dinner approx. 8:30 PM
We started with drinks, black Russians in quaint little jelly jars. Then we had dinner.
I had petit filet, mashed potatoes and vegetables. My wife had scampi with filet.
Her scampi was ice cold. Her stake was barely warm.
My stake was cold. The potatoes was barely warm. Our stake was the worst tasting I have ever eaten anywhere. I complained to the waitress who was not attentive at all. She brought me some A-1 yet it did not help. Still terrible. She never showed up again, not even to pour the sparking wine until finally, much later she brought some ice cream with a candle as we commented it was our anniversary. Much later she brought the check. There was not even an offer to buy us a drink, or any other offer to say sorry for a terrible meal, considering I had not eaten since breakfast.
We had sparking wine with our dinner. You give wine glass’s with sparking wine. TACKY.
On our way out the hostess asked how things were, I stated the worst dinner I have had in 60 years. She did not even say she was sorry, or offer to say something to the management.
Believe me, I will go the extra mile to tell people how bad it was. You should have employee training on how to serve, and how to check up on guest’s. Coco’s has better food and service. You should be ashamed.

Went for Sunday Brunch, terrible service. The busboy went to the table next to us (he obviously knew the people at the table) he asked so whats good? He was referring to the food, and then he said This Place Su*$#! I wish I would've known that before. The omlettes and pasta was the only thing good. Everything else wasn't worth the price. Desserts were horrible.

I grew up in the area and can tell you that this place has a million dollar location with the best views. However, I have been on several occasions and have watched it go downhill. From a very classy joint back in the day with savory steaks and seafood dishes to awful service, restaurant supply warehouse food and a very dilapidated run-down building. Its a shame, but I thought I would give it one last try for Sun brunch this morning, nothing has changed, I will never go back. You want good food, especially Sun brunch, try Orange Hill Restaurant in Orange off of Chapman (55 fwy), hands down best Sun Brunch in SoCal, and the service is superior.
We were recommended to this place, as a great place to get a good steak, but I disagree with that. Their food is okay, but it is not a steakhouse. Although we go there occasionally, it is not for the steaks. They also have a Sunday buffet, but not one I'd tell others about. The buffet is set up where you have to go between patrons waiting for tables, and is very disorganized. The overall atmosphere and food is okay for every day dining.

Made reservation for my girlfriends bday at 9 o'clock over the phone, when we got there the waitress told us that they were closed for cleaning because they had no customers!!! I was like WHAT?!.. At least tell the people that had reservation that they might be doing cleaning that day or something! Wasted an hour drive from Riverside to take my gf out to eat for her bday! NEVER GO HERE!

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. IT TOOK FOREVER TO GET SEATED EVEN WITH RESERVATIONS, FOOD SUCKED AND COST WAY TO MUCH. THE PEOPLE WHO WORK AND DINE THERE LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF CHOLOS AND HOODRATS !!!!

this place was nothing but long waits, bad food ,and snotty and poor service. They try to pass themselves off as a high class restaurant with expensive prices but in reality its just a Sizzlers with a view........DONT GO

The first time I went here I had made a reservation for 9pm. We got there at 9 and were told that we'd have to wait for the next table. We waited in there lounge and odered drinks. The well drinks were $5 and tiny. I had to ask the hostess 3 times ""when would we be seated?"" We were finally seated an hour later. At our table we never saw our waitress. We had to ask a bus boy to find her , finally 10 minutes later a person who wasnt our waitress brought us some water and took our order. I got the king crab legs($30) which arrived almost frozen in places....disgusting and over priced. We filled up on the salad bar which was not even comprable to Sizzler's salad bar. And we left.\r \r We figured that we would try the place one more time that maybe the first time was a fluke. This time we made a reservation for 8pm. We arrived and this time we only had to wait 20 min to be seated. While we waited we asked the waitress for water, she said that they were ""out of glasses"" but she could sell me a bottled water......horrible. When seated we again had to wait a long time before anyone even asked us our drink orders. So we just got up and went to the salad bar. The salad bar was missing all kinds of common item (no bacon bits, no shredded cheese, no mushrooms, etc) My girlfriend ordered the New York Steak ($26)medium done. It came charred and un edible. We sent it back and the second steak was rare to the point of almost being raw. I ordered the shrimp scampi ($23) which consisted on 6 small shrimp in a creamy butter sauce, mash potatoes , and vegetables.....again horrible. \r \r I vow NEVER to go back. We called the manager the next day and he gave us no refund but only the address to send a letter..... I advise you to save your time and money and go to Red Lobster or Sizzler because this place is on a lower level.......

Only been there once, but my girlfriend and I thought the food was very poor. Either we hit a bad night, or other people don't have good taste. My girlfriend is extremely picky, so when she doesn't like something then I don't think much of it, but when we both don't like it, then there is something wrong. Yes, great view, hoping to be more like Castaway in Burbank, but far from it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. The food is great, the service is impeccible, and the view is fantastic. A great place to take a date or to impress your parents. A must see!

Inland Valley's most terrific spot to make an impression on either a first date or to show the parents you have some taste. The menu is on the high side, dishes range from about $15- $25 but the quality, taste and ambiance make it well worth it. I suggest the lobster tail for dinner. The meat is always tender and topped with butter and a sprinkle of Hungarian paprika, pure melt-in-the-mouth YUM! The view of the night skyline is spectacular and little hard to believe that your looking down on Pomona but its a great setting that makes the food taste even better. Another must try is the Sunday brunch. Expect some long lines in front of the buffets but I promise the food is terrific and is also worth the $20 plate, unless your a vegetarian, this is a meat and seafood lovers affair.
