Thank You to the gang at Karl's Cabin

We visit Karl's about once a week.

I have chosen a Vegan's diet.

Just like most restaurants Karl's has about 2 dishes on their menu that I will eat. I usually get the salad with the walnuts and cherries substituting veggies for the chicken. The other dish I sometimes get is spaghetti marinara.

We always ask for the same waitress and she told us the cook Kelly wanted to make me a better vegan dish. So we stopped by Friday (Jan 15th 2010) evening to see what Kelly would make. I expected a stir fry veggie dish. (That is usually the best Vegans can expect for an off the menu dish.) What I got was some thing I would have expected from a 5 star restaurant. First, the chef used sautéed carrot strips and scallions, above that was a large rice chip with cous cous above the chip sprinkled on that was deep fried shredded sweet potatoes. The dish was surrounded with red beet vinaigrette. I wished I could have taken a picture. I was floored almost speech less when our waitress brought the dish.

Our waitress explained that Kelly came from the Ritz Carlton. Who knew.

One of our favorites

We have probably been to Karl's a couple dozen times in the last 10 years. Over that time the restaurant has changed somewhat, a bit less a biker bar and a bit more upscale.\r \r The food is always good. The service is a bit mixed, they always get the food out to you quickly but getting another drink can take awhile sometimes. \r \r Recommended.
