I am a 54 year old male who has been shopping at safeway for many years. For the most part, I don't get too excited or disappointed at going to the grocery store. Its just a fact of life. However the last few months one particular discount program they have has really gotten me ticked off.
The price of coke and pepsi productsused to be 2.50 to 3.00 per 12 pack. But recently they have gone to 5.69. Now there promotion is, buy 2 and get 3 free. I only want one, but to keep from being charged double for the price of one 12 pack, I have to bring home a whole trunk load of soda that I don't want. It is not in my budget to spend almost 12.00 for soft drinks, nor do I like to fill my cart up with pop so as to not have room for the rest of the things I need to buy. Then when I get home, I have to lug in five packs of soda and find room to put them. What ever happened to giving the consumer a good product at a fair price. Think about your customers that keep coming back to you week after week instead of pushing more product in the short run. If I wanted 5 cases of pop, I would be glad to buy them at 3.00 a pack. That should be my perogative, not to be held hostage to buy things I don't want or need at the time. For the most part, I have had good exoeriences at Safeway. This is not to complain and make people change stores, just to let youu know how I feel about this type of marketing. I usually don't get mad enough to set down and wrie a letter, but this makes me mad. Thanks for listening. Steve
