    The shop is neat.

The shop is neat. It does NOT smell. The animals we're healthy and well taken care of. Any of you who claims it "Smells" it's a pet store, it's not going to smell like cleaners, that's bad for the animals to inhale. Animal's cages are cleaned on a daily basis and are seen to be taken care of quite well. The birds are in excellent shape. They have an excellent staff and nice people.

Great customer care, even through tragedies

    Provided by

Almost a year ago, I bought a hand-fed baby cockatiel from Fin & Feather's pet shop on Tyler Street. He was very healthy, lively and friendly. We taught him to speak a few words. He was very easy to tame & train. He brought such joy to our family. \r Recently, he escaped. He is lost now, and we're hoping he'll come home. He was like a baby to us.\r Fin & Feather Pet Shop even took our name & number down in case anyone would find him and return him to their store. Other pet stores we called denied us of our request. This is a friendly, great store with amazing employees. I realized their care and concern through this tragedy of losing our bird. \r

    Avoid this disaster!

We were looking for a handfed cockatiel, and because we didn't have much choice in the area where we live, we thought we would check it out. At first glance, I really didn't like the looks of the place, or the birds for that matter. The bird cages weren't very clean, and while we waited for the girl to show up the baby, she lifted one of the nets for the fish tank and there was a dead fish still hanging from it. The hamsters and fish tanks were not what I would call 'clean' either.\r \r So upon looking at the tiels, I noticed that the lutino had a bald spot (this is a problem when the breeder doesn't know what they are doing). Another of the 3 baby tiels that was in the cage looked rather washed out and feeble, but we fell in love with the other gray tiel in the cage and against better judgment put down a deposit.\r \r The next week we went to visit and were were told that the gray baby that looked feeble the first time had died. The woman said, 'Ooops it got cold this weekend and we didn't have the heat on.' OOPS? You are a pet store. You should think about these things. Unbelievable. \r \r The woman told us it would be a couple more weeks before our bird was weaned, so we decided to be patient and hope for the best. \r \r Finally after 2 weeks had passed with NO CALL from these people, my patience went by the wayside. The first girl made me call back and talk with the owner, which I knew was a red flag. I called back and was informed that all three had died and she didn't know why. I asked if they were ever going to call to let us know. She said that she thought we had been called by another employee.\r \r So my advice is...save yourself the trouble and the heartbreak and go to someplace that cares enough about their animals to actually take care of them. And go somewhere that cares enough about their customers that they will take the time to make 1 lousy phone call to let you know that your bird died.

From exotic animals to household pets

It was an amazing trip for my whole family. The animals looked great, healthy and clean. The staff was knowladgable and helpful. The environment is very relaxed, and I was told that the store has been opperated by the same man and his family for over 20 years, and that employees have watched his children grow up. Over all this was a great experience.
