Good food, Nasty Guy Running the Place
The food here was comparable to some of the decent sit down Chinese places in Pittsburgh. The restaurant has three small tables where you can eat your food if you so desire. However, it is geared more toward take out. I ordered Szechuan Chicken and my daughter ordered General Tso's Chicken. The lady who took our order was lovely. Her two young daughters were also present in the restaurant, and they were running around a little bit--as toddlers do. While somewhat distracting, they weren't horribly behaved.
As my daughter and I sat there eating, the male employee (who I am assuming was the lady's husband) began yelling at the female employee about the little girls. He told her to get the kids under control and that she was worthless. He was yelling that she had spent 3 hours on snow peas and had gotten nothing done. It calmed down again and then the lady gathered her children a short time later. She must have walked back into the kitchen area to get something for the girls to eat because the man suddenly started screaming at her again. He was yelling, ""All you feed them is noodles. That's not real food. And whole milk! Are you a mother? Are you a mother? Are you a mother? Answer me!""
He yelled, ""You're not a very good one!""
Had my daughter not have been with me, I would have interceded on that woman's behalf. I probably would have gotten kicked out. I did tell the woman that her kids were beautiful and that she needed to unload her old man. The poor thing started crying as she left. One thing I know is that no plate of Szechuan Chicken is worth supporting an abusive owner/ chef/ employer/ spouse/ whatever. Therefore, I will not be returning to No. 1 Chinese.
One last note: The restroom was too dirty to use and the kitchen had a bunch of ribs sitting on top of a bucket. I'm glad I had the chicken and not the pork!
