06/07/11 Worst Service in Pittsburgh Area by No Bull at Citysearch My wife and I went there on a Sunday. There were 3 bartenders working and it still took forever to get waited on. I actually asked another customer if the service was always this bad, he said yes it is. We finally got waited on and ordered a beer and some food, then we were completely ignored while one of the bartenders with bucked teeth stood 5 feet away eating. I had to get a waitress that was working the floor to get our tab. We will never go there again.

We went to the Hop House in Greentree to try something new and because they had an extensive microbrew list. The beers both on tap and bottled were terrific. The food we ordered was so so. The salmon on my salmon salad was overcooked and dry, It was supossed to have artichoke hearts (there was 1/2 of 1) and the dressing I wanted was sesame. It came with a thick celery seed sweet and sour. My sons ribs tasted good and were very tender. The fish sandwich that my husband ordered was large, crispy and tasty. The fries tasty as well. The service was hit or miss. Our waitress seemed to be attending to tables of customers that she knew. The biggest drawback is the smoking. The whole restaurant smells of cigarette smoke. I had to wash all our clothes and febreez our coats and the car as soon as we got home. It would be a much better restaurant if it had a non-smoking area and until it does, we will not be going back no matter how good the beer selection and the food are!!!

This is my local. Nowhere else in the western part of town can you get as wide a selection of microbrews (~30 taps plus bottles) - AND at reasonable prices (in contrast to the nearby and very expensive Sharp Edge Creekhouse). The Hop House has a comfortable full-size 3-sided bar, wonderful waitresses, lots of table and booth seating, an enormous screen-projection TV (plus flat screens everywhere), and a pool table. Plus really good food. I'm not alone in praising the food - just go there around 5 pm on a weekday and watch all the people coming in for take-out. The hint of wood smoke aroma makes you hungry, and the food delivers. I'd come here even if I lived in the South Side!

I've been going to the hop house for a few years and still make it there at least twice a week. The staff is nice and the beer selection is awesome. They have a ton of taps and bottles and I like trying the different seasonal beers. My wife and I enjoy the food and I can't say I have had a bad meal there in 2 years although I do have a few menu favorites. We love the outside seating in the summer although we wish we could take the kids there for dinner (apparently they are smoking and kids are not allowed.)\r \r We just tried all the winters beers they have on tap and I think I have found my new favorite beer (Troegs Mad Elf!!!). If you're in Green Tree, try out the place and check out the beer menu.

I came to this place expecting decent food and normal service and had the absolute worst of both. My food took over 35 minuets to come out. I ordered a pizza and the entire thing was burnt. They cooked another one and it came out not even cooked at all. They dough on the inside wasn't even cooked. They made a third one and it tasted horrible. Then, the waitress gave me my bill and charged me for three pizza. After speaking to the manager who was a rood and inconsiderate piece of garbage, They charged me for one pizza. I will never go back here and I highly recommend going somewhere else.

We visit at least once a week! We also planned a office closing party and they were more than accommodating! Great beer, great food and great service!

This place could be really great if it wasn't for all the clouds of smoke hovering above your head. The Green Tree location should be the poster child for the PA smoking ban. It's amazing that people actually want to eat food in that atmosphere. Once smoking is eliminated, I would recommend this place both for eating and for just hanging out.

We had a great party with the best pizza and service. We also had our own, private, NTN tournament!!! If you're looking for a good place to bring the crew, this is the joint.

If you're looking for a local bar atmosphere & price but like to get a little loud, this is your place. Drinks are good, the low price makes them even better! The atmosphere reminds me a bit of cheers where everyone is welcome. Good mix of young & old, wild & sedated.
