I was also recently treated for an eye emergency at CEIâ€™s Urgent Eye Clinic. I didnâ€™t know they offered emergency services, but when I had an issue with my vision on New Yearâ€™s Eve, my primary care doctor sent me straight to CEI. I was treated that very same day, which was awesome.

Macular Degeneration
I had my first appointment with the doctors at Cincinnati Eye Institute to complete a regular exam for macular degeneration. Wow! I have never been treated so well and professionally. It is incredible that such a large operation is run so well. CEI has the best care delivered in the most professional way. Laser Eye Surgery
Ptosis is the drooping of the upper eyelid. While Ptosis is usually the result of aging, some people develop Ptosis after eye surgery or an injury, and sometimes the condition is congenital. Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease in which the blood vessels that supply the retina are damaged. This condition is the leading cause of vision loss for people with diabetes.

Ultrasound
Fellows learn to diagnose, follow, and treat choroidal melanomas, including ultrasound echography, I-125 plaque radiotherapy, and fine-needle aspiration biopsy.

Mohs Surgery
Mohs surgery for skin cancer near the eyes requires meticulous attention from a highly specialized team, typically including a dermatologist and an Oculoplastic and Reconstructive surgeon. Mohs surgery is a specialized procedure in which cancerous cells are delicately removed while preserving the healthy surrounding tissues. A forehead lift is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. There are a number of different approaches to the eyebrow lift procedure, allowing surgeons to fully customize treatment to complement each patientâ€™s unique physiology and help them meet their aesthetic goals.

Skin Cancer
Ulcer
A corneal ulcer is a painful wound on the cornea that may be the result of scratches, injury, or poor contact lens care. In addition to pain, a corneal ulcer may cause decreased vision, eye redness, light sensitivity, swelling of the eyelids, or the sensation that there is something in the eye. This condition can progress to threaten vision and should be treated promptly by an ophthalmologist.
Fungus
Corneal infections are often the result of injuries to the cornea such as scratches that allow bacteria or fungus to enter the cornea. Contact lens wearers are at higher risk of corneal infections. In most cases, corneal infections can be treated with antibacterial or antifungal eye drops or oral medications. This is normally a treatable condition, but severe corneal infections can threaten the eyesight and eye health and may require surgical treatment or a corneal transplant.
Lesions
Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a condition that causes painful lesions and blisters to grow on the skin and mucosal surfaces, including the eyes. This rare condition is often a result of an allergic reaction to a prescription or over-the-counter medication and the formation of lesions is usually preceded by flu-like symptoms. Eye involvement with SJS may range from mild dry eye to severe scarring and decreased vision. Even years after the dermatologic issues caused by SJS are alleviated, patients may still require treatment by an ophthalmologist.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels remove the damaged outer layer of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three types of chemical peels, ranging from mild to strong- alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol- and formula strengths are tailored to each patient.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion- Diamondtome â€“ is a technique for removing the topmost layer of skin leaving it supple and vibrant. The Diamondtome wand removes this layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells.
