We ate here on 7/12/10. The best BBQ ribs either of us had ever eaten anywhere- perfectly smoked, great sauce, and just falling off the bone tender. Both the sides (baked potato salad and green beans) were good too. We met Smokin' Ed the owner. He was welcoming and pleasant with a genuine passion for BBQ that you can taste a hundred times over in his ribs. We'll make the drive from NC again just for more BBQ. It just is that great. Don't expect to find a big fancy place. It's small and plain but cosy and very clean. If you have a big party, best to pick up some Smokin' Ed's takeout and find a pretty place to picnic. The portions are incredibly generous- which is wonderful because the leftovers made a delicious lunch for us the next day. Due to the portions, the quality, and the family-friendly pricing, a meal there is truly an amazing value. Not that it matters. The only thing I'll remember about Pigeon Forge when I'm old and gray will be Smokin' Ed's outrageously perfect BBQ ribs. That makes this a consummate dining experience at any price in my book. Five out of five stars because BBQ could be different and possibly just as good but just doesn't get any better than Smokin' Ed's.
I was in the Gatlingburg area not long ago and was caugjht in the snow and was left stranded in the mountains Although i live in a nearbty county i am still a tourist and knew very little about area. i had called everybody and all i got was excuses, why they couldnt help me. My car had slid off in a ditch and i couldnt get back to my cabin. Here i was stranded with our food and the rest of our supplies and was off in a ditch. I got ahold of Carrs and was told that they would help me and they did.. There wreckers were running behind because of all cars off in a ditch. the man i talked too told me it would be a little while before they could get to my car and said they would send someone in a 4 wheel dr to take me to my cabin so i would not have to wait on my car because they knew we were cold and probably hungry, God Bless carrs. They got us to our cabin and got our car out of the ditch and we were on our way home. Call carrs when you are in trouble they care.
OMG!!!!!!!! we were in Pigeon Forge for vacation and decided to ride out to Douglas Lake, on our way we passed a few pizza signs, then stopped for their $.99 ICE. The owners were so nice! we ended up talking to them for so long, we decided to try their menu, we ordered a salad, philly sub, and bread sticks. The food looked delicious, We ate the garlic sticks in the car and were very impressed, the kids scarfed them down as fast as they could, so we couldn't eat any! at the lake we pic nic'd on the MASSIVE sub and salad. the portions of both were unbelievable for the price. On our way back to the resort, we stopped back by and took a pizza with us, of course we had to buy bread sticks for ourselves. Anytime we make a trip down south here again, we will be back, and you should too!
