I have been going to Vias for 10 years and have never been disappointed by the experience. There is no other Mexican food restaurant in Phoenix like this one. I love the pollo fundido dish and all the veggies. I would recommend this place to anyone and have over the years! I will keep going.

This Family run Mexican Restaurant is quite simply the Best Restaurant to enjoy truly wonderful food - Great margaritas - The largest selection of Tequillas anywhere - all the employees are knowledgeable and friendly - it's quaint and authentic feeling - they don't use Lard - The Vegetarian selection is outstanding - Carne Asada to die for - Calibasitas and Corn with Cheese on top(THE BEST) - Albondigas Soup - Soppapias - Flaun - Chicken - Shrimp Burros - the list goes on and on - TRY IT - You will be glad you did - and quite possibly return again...and again...and again! Thank you for allowing me to tell you about it!

My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night (8/2/08) and the experience was terrible. Prior to being seated I had overheard a waiter tell another that the 'spiders/bugs' were back. Well, as it turned out, they were. Two of them crawled across our table, just after our food was served.
As you can imagine, this pretty much ruined our appetites and we left a good portion of our meals. In bringing this to our server, she said would talk to the manager. In a few minutes, she returned and annouced that one of our meals were taken off the bill. That was a nice gesture, but I really feel the manager should have talked to us.
We did not want to penalize the server, so we left a decent tip and left . . . .with no intentions of returning.
My feeling is that if the management did not consider it a big issue, then it will not be resolved.
My next call is to the city/state restaurant inspector!

My dad got extremely sick from eating Albondigas Soup at Via de Losantos and was in bed for 3 days. The management offered no apologies or empathy for such a serious matter. They barely acknowledged our concern even though we have been loyal neighborhood customers for years. We have enjoyed the cheap margaritas but I stopped ordering the chicken after my first chimichanga. My chimichanga was filled with gristle and fat and I asked them how they cook it and I found out its boiled chicken. The shredded beef is ok but if you get a beef enchilada, it comes with chunks of beef that look lke wet dog food! I have been willing to over look the ""mystery meat"" until now, but after the horrible treatment we received from the staff, I am sorry to say that Via has lost some good customers...all we wanted was a simple apologie.

I live nearby Via De Los Santos. The fact is the place seems a bit dirty to me. But the food is good. Grilled veggies and carrots are yummy. Salsas are good. Atmosphere inside is fun, but service not warm or friendly. They get the job done and certainly worth a try.

My partner and I were eager to try a new Mexican restaurant. We called at 8:30pm and were told that they close at 9:30pm. After driving 20 miles, we arrived at 9:05pm and were rudely told that they were closed at 9pm without any an apology for the miscommunication.
We explained what happened and asked to still be seated since it was 9:05pm. The woman at the front desk, who was one of the owners, treated us with unbelievable rudeness. She never apologized for her employee's error, and asked us to leave when we expressed our dissatisfaction with the total lack of consideration and service.
I will never, ever eat at this place. I am a successful business man who understands the meaning of good customer service -- I will make sure this restaurant is on all of my customer and client lists of places to avoid.

What separates Via De Los Santos from the pack of Mexican restaurants is an extensive menu featuring quirky signature dishes. Yes, you can get typical fajitas with peppers & onion in a tortilla, but where else can you order them w/ zuccini and corn, served on a bed of egg noodles? Carrots, green beans, cabbage? It's bizarre but delicious Mexican comfort food. Service is, on a good day, ordinary. Abuts run down neighborhood, but restaurant/parking lot are right on Central. If you find the same old beef taco downright duhumanizing, I recommend trying this offbeat landmark at least once.
