I helped pull a dog off of the I-10 freeway today who appeared to be hit by a car. I waited until police officers arrived and helped load the dog into the patrol car, the officer told me she would be taking the dog to this location but that she would not be filing a report and that she could not put me in contact with this shelter, but that I should be able to call and get information on the dog (I am a veterinary technician and I was interested in adopting the dog and providing medical care for it if no owners claimed ownership). First off, there is no phone number for this place, only an automated phone system that gives you information about this place. I was desperate so I said I needed to file a bite report simply so I could talk to a human not a machine. The man I was in contact with was beyond rude! He said that if there was no police report that he wasn't going to help me. I mean, COME ON! How many male german shepherds are dropped off at this location at 2PM on a Sunday by a female police officer?! I was just trying to help, and no one could take 5 minuets out of their day to help me help this animal. Animal care and control desperately needs to hire individuals who actually care about animals.

I lost my dog, she has a tende...

I lost my dog, she has a tendency to jump the fence, but she has always come back. We checked all over the valley at all of the local pounds and humane societies. When I came here, they told me the dogs on euthanasia list could not be looked at without approval. Jasmine is a blue nose pit, and has a litter of nine puppies, which I have been bottle feeding sense she took off. It's soo sad. I don't have a job, but am doing everything I can to scrap up the money to get her out before its too late. They told me they can hold off the euthanasia process for a mere 48 hours, and if I didn't have the money to get her out by then, it'll be too late. That was yesterday afternoon. I have till tomorrow afternoon, and don't even have half the money necessary to get her back, and just as the man below said, I will have to pay a fine, sene she is registered in sexier county, Utah. I haven't been in this star long, and brought her here with me. I have had her sense she was a pup, my dads dog was her mom. She is now six years old, and taking medication because of some skin allergies. I'm devisteted. She has been my one true friend when everyone else turned their backs on me. I'm soo afraid I am going to lose her. They were soo harsh, saying I'm a terrible owner for letting her get pregnant! It's not like I asked for it. If I was a breeder, I'd at least breed her with another pit bull, her puppies are cute little mutts. I'm barely 18, and this is the only pet I have ever had. I have also never had a job. Grownig up and battling my drug addiction, going from treatment facility to treatment facility has made it impossible for me to have had one when I was younger, and now that I've been clean, I still can't get a real job till I get my birth certificate. God! What do I do? How do I earn that kind of money in two days, when I don't have any credit to take money out of the bank? It's bad enough I'm still living with my mother, she definitely can't afford to pay the fine, she already helps me buy food, and cares for my little sisters! Someone, please help me!

I just read the email from the young man who was in the military and lost his dog and it was picked up by your agency. How pethetic that the people in this world have resorted to such greed that they would not give a man who is serving our country had to pay such an outrageous amount to get his best friend back. You people are idiots. I will never give your organization another dime. What kind of an organization would allow a dog to be adopted to another family when it already had a loving family. You would dare to tear a family's heart out for the greed of money. I am going to copy his email and paste it on Utube and Facebook. I hope it goes viral. Not to mention the trauma you put their poor dog through. You are nothing but a greedy bunch of idiots. Goes to show you how down hill this country is going. Someone who serves our country and protects your SORRY CARCASESS cannot get his dog back. Are you kidding me????? IDIOTS!!!.

I am active duty military and live on base, my dog got out and managed to get off base and got picked up right out side the gate by maricopa county. After a couple days of searching for her, putting out fliers and posting it on craigslist we decide to check the animal shelters. We manage to find her and joy and relief are soon replaced with panic when we are told that it will cost us 511.00 to get her back. my jaw dropped. I was in disbelief. Then when i tell the lady at the desk i can't afford that she tells me if i allow them to spay my dog they will drop it to 250.00 but i still can not take my dog home for two more days which upsets my three year old because she seen the dog and we told her we were going to take her home then i have to tell her that we could not. then i had to take out a loan to pay fines for not having her registered in maricopa county even though i had no idea we were suppose to since we are not from around here. But the lady did not care about our problems, she said if we did not pay our dog would go up for adoption tomorrow. my wife is crying, my daughter is screaming, and it was all i could do not to lose it and cuss everyone in the place.
