    very bad bed side manner !

    Attn; Timothy O.Morgan, Evecutive Director

    Re; Elizabeth DeRosier, patient in room 730A , on 8/24 to 8/29/05

    My admission was fraught with problems that at the very least deserves a formal apology. To detail my problems, they begin with an inattentive nursing staff that in at least one case put me at risk . Following surgery I was on oxyen, and when I called for help because I wasn't getting oxygen, I was told by a nurse that I was .

    To see if I was in fact getting any I test it for my safe by puttting the oxygen line in a cup of water to check for bubbles ,but there were none proving I was not getting any oxygn. The second problem is that after surgery, I was restricted to bed for three days with a Foley cathter and 2000 cc bed side bag .

    One day I noticed that the bag seemed to heavy and My roommate confirmed that in deed the bag was full and needed to be empty which the nurse denied and said it was not a problem. but I was able to pull the bag up to look for my self I saw that there were nearly 2000 cc's in the bag.

    Then my next problem concerns my I.V which was backing up and when I called for the nurse I was told there were no problem. until I noticed blood on the floor and when I finally got a nurse's attedtion ,the connection had to be changed. Another nursing problem was a lack of response to my request for pain medication . After ringing the call bell ,the clerk was told I needed my pain medicine but there was no response until later a nurse come in on another issue and took care of the problem in fact the clerk had forgotten to tell her .

    And another problem was after the restriction was lifted and I requested help to go to the bathroom often necessary follwing major surgery the reponse was often rude !!!! and on top of this is the fact that the room was filthy . and it was never properly cleaned. How I know this because my blood was there the hole time I was In this room .

    ALL and all , this makes for a very bad impression of your hospital and made it a difficlt experience for me very much so !!!! All the nurse's that work the night slift the week I was they should always put them safe in there patient place or think if this was a manner of their family how would they like it if their family manner were treated like I was !

    I am a home care nures and I love my job I don't get pay as much as your nures's and still love what I do , the nures's that where their where only there for a pay check . and this nures's have been their to long that they for got to feel for there patient . and are no longer a people person any more and need to move on to a job that they would like to work at, . and I hope for the patient sake you would retrain all your nures's in better bed side manner . This was my very frist time every in a hosptial for a week and my last time in this one!

    Sincerely;

    Elizabeth
