This was my second time using the service of "Millenium Taxi" @ 215-743-1072 .Since I was overcharged before and told by the driver that they have a MINIMUM service charge of $8.00!!!, I called the company to verify if that is true and I was told "no we don't charge a minimum". So I ordered a cab to go the same distance of 7 city blocks as before and when I reached my destination the driver said "ok that will be eight dollars". I asked why are you charging me eight dollars for an under $5 ride, he said "$8 is our minimum for under 2 miles". I told him that I just called the company to verify first and was told "no we don't charge a minimum". The driver said "well you can call them if you want",so I called again and was told "oh yes we charge $8 minimum, I thought you meant a minimum ride", I said I clearly asked if there was a minimum charge of $8 to ride and you told me "no we don't charge a minimum". I then asked the driver where is this posted? He said "I'm just the driver". I then asked where is your meter? He said "here it is" and showed me the in-dash trip guage, I said that is not a taxi fare meter that is just a mileage guage.
This company needs to be investigated and I will be filing a complaint with the P.P.A. since the P.U.C. no longer deals with taxis anymore. I will be calling NBC investigators also.
