mediocre at best.

Mexican Post in CC is a comfortable atmosphere and moderately fun if you are college age. The food is good, but I would call it texmex, not Mexican. Drinks are alright for the price, but I wouldn't call them great.

My biggest problem with the place, however, has got to be the manager. He was consistantly rude to me and my friends as customers and to his staff, which he has no problem reprimanding in front of customers. I was appalled at the way he treated our server who was relatively new and admittedly made a few mistakes. She was very sweet about everything and we weren't really that upset about the small mistakes that she made. All we wanted was to have the mistake removed from our bill. This manager acted like we were out to get a free meal from him and was openly cruel to our poor server. We felt so bad we left a pity tip, but we will not be returning to support that kind of behavior.

Totally gone downhill

Been going to both Mexican Post locations for many years. Just stopped into the Cherry Street location for an early dinner and was super disappointed. Won't be going back. The menu has been revamped and scaled way back. (After chatting with the waitress, it's evident it was done as a cost-cutting measure.) The first margarita she brought out was nothing but water. When we mentioned it, she apologized and brought another round. They were much better. (not great, but good.) The food was really bad. The guacamole tasted like something from a supermarket. Our entrees were rather bland as well. Oh, even the complimentary nacho chips they served were stale. Very sad to see this happen at one of my favorite Center City haunts. Won't be back.

Have a drink and leave

I can't imagine why anyone who has eaten here would ever come for round two. There are so many amazing Mexican restaurants in the Phila area, there is no reason to settle for Mexican Post. The Tortilla soup looked and tasted like someone put tortillas and water in a blender and poured it in a dish. The black bean soup was thick and flavorless. The ""snapper"" tasted like it was previously frozen and was topped with what tasted like jarred salsa. The Veggie salad tasted pretty good going down, but both my partner and I suffered from stomach aches the rest of the night. If you want GOOD Mexican food, try Las Cazuelas at 4th and Girard or one of the many authentic taquerias near the Italian market. Tamarindos in Blue Bell has FREE awesome margaritas, savory soups, creative entrees, and a whole fresh grilled snapper encrusted in garlic that puts Mexican Post's snapper to shame.

In short, save your money....or go to Taco Bell; there's not really that much difference.

Expectations not met!

I am a lover of food! Of flavor! Especially mexican food; and I have to say the BEST thing I had at the Mexican Post tonight was the Modelo Especial and the salsa :-/ My mom bought my a gift cert for dinner so we went after Christmas shopping today; a long day and, well, we were kinda, no really, let down. The service was GREAT! Fast! Pleasant! But food was...well, eh. We had to dump the salsa into the Queso to ""spice"" it up. My seafood salad was SO salty I couldn't eat it and had to send it back. I ordered an a la carte enchilada and it pretty much tasted like.......nothing. Furthermore, my mom's Chicken Chimmichanga was, well, JUST CHICKEN; there was no sauce or seasoning or ANYTHING else inside and very liitle sauce outside.....good thing she had salsa and queso to dump on top. I brought home a veggie burrito for my husnad. He liked the beans and rice, but agreed that the main item, the burrito, needed some, any, flavor, other than hot (which I ordered). My advice.....go to La Esperanza in Lindenwold, NJ or whichever ""real"" mexican restaurant you have near you:(

Terrible Food, Good drinks and HH

Probably the worst mexican food I've ever eaten! I ate there a year ago and forgot how terrible it was. The bread they use for all the food is very doughy and undercooked. The ground beef takes and smells like cat food, no joke. Everything has this weird sweetness to it, and no spice or flavor at all. The queso and chips were the only thing we liked, but they are very hard to mess up. We make our own mexican food MUCH better.

Happy hour and their drinks are great... but don't order the food!

It's ok

The inside is trendy and it's always great to have the option of an outside patio. I've eaten there twice and will say that the food was only mediocre. Not bad, just not great.

Best place to drink and grab some food North of Market Street....

I have visited this location many a times. Matter of fact, I have been visiting Old City Mexican Post since 17 years. There are many reviews written about both these locations. My two cents......

Old City - Been in the city for many years - Almost 20. You will see many of the same employees (Unheard of in the food service industry. - Almost makes me feel like I am in Boston at CHEERS :). They have good food, great drinks and above average customer service. All for an extremely affordable price. Atmosphere is rustic and reminds you of Mexico.

Love Park - Very upscale for a Mexican Post. Great location and ambience. Very young HIP crowd. Great Drinks and good food that is reasonably priced. The out door patio is probably one of the largest in the city. Can fit a party of 100 easily. The bar is unreal. They carry over a 100 Tequilas. If you are really looking for great Mexican food, I would recommend that you go to Tequilas. If you are looking for good food, and a great after hour place, Mexican Post is it. If you live in Center City like I do, I strongly recommend you to visit places like Tir Na Nog or Public House and compare their drink prices with Mexican Post. My beer tastes the same no matter where I buy it...... I strongly recommend this place.

Bar is cool, thats about it

Big mexican food fan, unfortunately have yet to have a good meal here. If you like the Mexican Post, make sure to eat at the Front and Chestnut Street location where they pay more attention to you and your food. Last time I ate here, my girlfriend's enchilada was watered down and tasted as if it had just come out of the microwave. The service has been inconsistent, although last time they were very apologetic after the watered down enchilada. The bar scene is pretty neat though, especially on a warm day where you can sit on the patio. However, if you are a fan of mexican food, there are better places out there.

Lots of food

I ordered the tamales with chicken and boy was I stuffed when I left! They were ok... a little dry for my taste. Nice decor though...
