Awful Experience

I have never written a review before , but the food and service were sooo disappointing I felt compelled to join Citysearch and write this review. The food was exceedingly bland and flavorless. I had the beef sate with chinese broccholi which was advertised as spicy. Not only wasn't it spicy but the sauce had no flavor at all let alone spice or sate. The spring roll was doughy with limp(not crisp) veggies and b... view more

Wort Chinese Restaurant ever in town

I've never written a review before but this restaurant made me write my first review. I had gut feeling as soon as I got into the restaurant that this would be bad. My boyfriend and I were seated in a while even if there were seats available. Service was very slow compared to the one in other restaurants in China town. Speaking of food....nothing to say about. My boyfriend ordered duck with vegetables which was ... view more

got treated like trash

Hadn't been back to Lee How Fook in a while and I wanted to introduce my partner to the place. I have fond memories of it from several years ago. The food was not bad and the had fixed it up inside. The problem was we got treated like trash. For the life of us we could not figure out why (although of course there's practically never a justification). We came in and got seated. Two other tables got seated at the ... view more

Overrated and dirty

I am completely mystified by all the great reviews of this restaurant. I took a small group there for what I thought would be a great authentic chinese meal. \r
I had my doubts as soon as we walked in the door. It looked dirty and no one was in there. The food was nothing special and when I went into the bathroom to wash my hands a r oach, yes a r oach, fell on my head!\r
Never ever ever again!!!

Disappointed, had the duck over rice. Very mediocre. Rather greasy. Bland. Flavor lacked complexity. Questionable authenticity. Will try again to be fair, perhaps Singapore noodles and dumplings are a better choice

Fresh and a Good Value but Improvements Needed

Attentive service, friendly atmosphere and fresh ingredients provide a good starting point. BYOB is a drawing card as are the moderate prices. A few changes would be needed to get me to return. The quartz spotlighting is a bit harsh. The entrees while attentively prepared are on the ordinary (American style Chinese) side spice wise and presentation was average. And who can eat with plastic chopsticks from the sm... view more

Average Chinese food

I went to Lee How Fook with high expectations (based on the reviews) but left very disappointed. I've been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants throughout the country, including those in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. I went on a weekday evening. Service was pleasant and the decor was average. I asked the server for recommendations, and she suggested the hot & sour soup and chicken & asparagus h... view more

Authentic & inexpensive Chinese Food

Very authentic food....the Wonton soup was awesome and so are the hot pots....service is a bit lacking since there only seemed to be one server there....but we sat next to a couple who have been eating here for the last 37 years...I can see why. I wish I lived in Philadelphia! :-)

Great food and great service

My husband and I met in China and we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner at a chinese restaurant. We tried many restaurants before realizing that Lee How Fook did banquets. I reserved the date and was a little unsure about how the small restaurant with the back alley entrance would go over with our out-of-town guests. In the end it was wonderful, the food was fantastic, the service was excellent. I was really impre... view more
