Overall
If I could give this place a n...

If I could give this place a negative 5, I would. The staff is extremely rude, the drinks are way overpriced, and forget about asking for a type of alcohol they don't carry without getting a rude response back. The atmosphere is interesting and enjoyable but the house band, Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society ruins the laid back relaxing vibe with their rudeness, badgering of the clientele, and extremely loud music that is being played DIRECTLY into their microphones. If this place wants to keep customers coming back, they should really consider being more friendly and being thankful that people are coming to their establishment that is more of a gimmick then anything else. They should also tell the band that making fun of the customers, isn't a way to make someone want to stay and drink $10 beverages. After trying this place about 4 or 5 times thinking that things would change, I realize my expectations were a bit too high. I will never step foot in here ever again.

Going going ...gone

When this place first opened my friends and I made the trek there for a birthday celebration. The initial reaction was ""wow"". It does have a very unique decor and personable staff. It's dark and moody with several different areas to cater to your own decor and persona.
The, with each time we visited, we noticed it was badly laid out and cramped. Where ever you lay stake and try to sit and enjoy a drink or appetizer, there is someone bumping into you , walking by, standing with their back against you. Then you notice the overbearing odor or kerosene burning from the many lamps that set the atmosphere. Enchanting the first time or too...but now it;s distracting and overbearing. The live music provided by the house band was exciting the first 2 times...but now it;s evident that their catalog is limited to the same old same old every time they play and their loud obnoxious behavior is only fueled by the drinks they keep pounding down between songs. There's nothing like some guy SCREAMING into a microphone as you;re trying to enjoy a drink and some conversation on a date.
On a plus note...the food and beer selection is still wonderful and despite the distractions of the odor and the band we;ll prob still continue to go back there. Maybe with Spring blooming and the doors opening the fresh air will filter out some of the stink.

Great addition to the neighborhood

We celebrated my husband's birthday this past weekend at the Farmer's Cabinet. I prefaced that we are coming here for the beer selection (he's a HUGE beer connoisseur!) and not the food due to some mixed reviews.

The restaurant was spacious , dark wood throughout and dimly lit, there were two bars to accommodate the crowds of thirsty patrons! We sat in the formal dining area in the back of the restaurant rather than the communal beer hall. The tables had plain table clothes, the Mason jar and candles gave it a very rustic feel. We were disappointed that we did not get bread before the meal, as the tables around us.

Our server Steve was very knowledgeable on the endless pages of beer and had great recommendations on the cheese and pickle selections.
The cheese (3 for $15 is definitely the better deal!!) and charcutiere course were nicely presented and was a wonderful start to our meal.
Bone marrow appetizer was delicious
Entrees, he had the steak two ways, initially there was a temperature issue, but was quickly rectified, and Steve was very apologetic. The result was a tender, well seasoned cut of meat. My husband wanted some steak frites to accompany his protein, but was informed they did not have it available, only to see a steady stream of fries coming out of the kitchen! I felt bad as it was his birthday:(
Entrees-
Venison Osso Bucco- I was a bit disappointed as it was the priciest course on the menu. The meat was dry and tough to swallow, the parsnips and carrot accoutrements were undercooked and raw. I rarely leave food on the plate, but I was unable to put this down.
French Press coffee- a waitress came over and pressed the coffee in front of us, which I thought was a nice tough as opposed to plopping some saucers down.
Upon leaving, both bar areas were jammed packed and we could see a band getting set up to really kick the vibe into high gear.

Even though there were some short comings, (but we did say we were coming for the beer!) The staff was very friendly and pleasant, we will definately be coming back to sample more of the brews!
