My friends and i had a great time here in Copabanana Inc. Music was awesome and the drinks very reasonable

I've been going to the Copa for years, not only for the great margaritas and food but also because\r of the mix of people. Young, Old (which I am) all races, all walks of life. They all add up to a fun\r and friendly time. I saw the entry about the surprise in the food and was shocked until I learned from a bartender\r that it was part of a prep glove. He says they comped the food anyway. He also\r made a funny joke about the finger-sized plastic. The Copa's new upstairs lounges are much more\r upscale but I prefer the original funky decor downstairs.

My husband and I went to Copabanana on South Street in Philadelphia today, Sunday June 22, 2008 and each ordered a burger. My husband ordered french fries with his burger. The fries were covered in grilled onions and peppers. We each had one bite of his fries and my huband found a cond0m in the fries. We were horrified and disgusted. He called the waiter over who was equally appauled and exclaimed 'I can't work here anymore'. We immediately left and went to Walgreens to buy mouthwash and were completely sickened and horrified. Pleast help us spread the word.

I went to south streets copa in search of a refreshing margariti or 2 or 3 to enjoy while i people watched in the street seating area. with no signs stating that guests must be eating to enjoy this seating area or be more then 1 . I went inside to request a table outside. first no one even bothered to ask if i needed assistance i had to hunt down someone. when I did find her I said I wanted to have margaritis outside. at this time the ""rule "" should have been mentioned if it said rule actually existed. because if i Had Wanted to SIT at the HOT STUFFY BAR i would been there instead of waitng around for somone to ask for a table. instead I find myself outside infront of other table . told because I wasn't eating that I could n't sit outside. \r only to notice later on other patrons enjoying drinks only. \r

We went two nights in a row and had a great time. The drinks were great and the people that work there are very cool and informative. There was parking very close by (like one block away) which was very cool because it can be pretty difficult to find parking on south street. Cute ""Miami"" room will keep me coming back!

Visited Copa on Sun. 7/22/07 around 3pm. The restaurant was extremely crowded but seemed to have a fun vibe. Bartendar had a great attitude as did most of the servers...HOWEVER, our server was not in tune with the rest of the bunch. Safe to assume that if there was no observation of the other wait staff, I would never return to the restaurant. When our server came to the table, there was not so much as a hello. She literally stood at the table and starred at us as if we had telekinetic powers to decipher what was in her head. After a looong 10-15 seconds of starring, she parted her lips and said, ""what doya' want?""..... When asked about the food such as, how is the shrimp basket , she kind of nodded her head with no real answer. It actually felt like we were an annoyance to her. She came halfway back to the table one time and in passing said to my husband, ""' nother Lager?"" She did not return to the table until SHE thought it was time for us to pay the bill. At that point, she decided to engage in conversation and say, ""sorry that everything took so long, the computer system is aracaic and was not working that well"" --- meanwhile the computer generated bill looked just fine. If I could have gotten away with leaving her a penny tip, that would have been the message to her and her service skills. With regards to the food.... tasted like any other pub food, nothing special -- granted my husband had a burger and I had the shrimp basket. We would have been better off buying a bag of frozen breaded shrimp and a pound of ground beef at the market and making our own food. Next time we visit, we'll skip the table service and head straight for the bar. Have to admit, the people watching was great -- we had a window table at the front of the restaurant. It will probably be awhile before Copa sees the like of us again.

I was there on 7/1/07 and I wouldn't go there again. The service was slow and the food was not good at all (cold & over cooked). Maybe if I got a couple of drinks before the meal it would have seemed better. Oh yeah, and the restroom was GROSS.

i have never had the food here, but i have to say that i am pretty obsessed with the mojitos here. they are delicious and light and come with a sugar cane. i can attest to how strong the margaritas are though after helping out a couple of friends after they finished them!

I love this joint. Whether your going for drinks and eats, just drinks, or even just eats it's going to be good. The service is always good, the bartenders are congenial, the food is great, and you MUST try the margaritas. I have yet to find a margarita that matches COPA'S.

I am addicted to the Copa's Beef Taco and to compliment that with a Prickley Pear Margarita makes it perfect! Be Careful with those Margaritas though... They can be leithal!

Either i was buzz w/ all the alcohol i've consumed, but the burger tasted just like any other burger i tasted before. You get to choose your toppings on ur burger, which i think is realy cool. Spanish fries are just fries w/ hot peppers (just go w/ the regular ones). I took a sip of my friend's margarita...awesome.

The Copa is the best hole in the wall in Philly! Sometimes crowded but try the upstairs bar. My husband went to Drexel and back a couple years they had an awesome bartender who just worked upstairs - he made the best martini of any kind EVER Great burgers too.

If you go, you must try the caribbean chicken quesidillas and the pink lemonade martini!!!

I live in Jacksonville Fl now and miss many aspects of Philly. I drank my first margaritas at the Cope in 1979 and I was hooked. Back then South Street was alive with authentic ""punks"" and cool people. Although the people have changed, the Cope has not. I was back a month ago and the margaritas were as good as ever

The drinks at Copabanana are fantastic! Just be careful you don't get run over on your visit, as the layout is very tight, cramped, and busy! I was lucky enough to snag a far corner booth enclosed by a street-facing window and the far wall which provided a good deal of quiet and seclusion. The food is very unique and delicious as well!

Copabanana is the best place ever in Philly to get margaritas. Try the double, you won't be sorry.

HEY EVEN IF TABLES ARE AVAILABLE, YOU BETTER HAVE A PARTY OF AT LEAST THREE. WE WERE DENIED SEATING WHILE TWO FOUR-TOP TABLES WERE AVAILABLE. NO ONE WAS WAITING FOR A SEAT. THIS HAPPENED MID-WEEK, NOT, ON A WEEKEND OR MONDAY. WE ATE ELSEWHERE.
