Brownstone Natural Hair-Barber

Like many other reviewers of this salon, I had an a pretty terrible experience of my own between the owner and the shop's ghetto receptionist. I was scheduled for a crochet braid hairstyle which required a 100.00 deposit in advance, in which I paid. A few days prior to my appointment I had caught a terrible case of the flu. I tried to reschedule when I was told, first by the receptionist and eventually by the owner that I wouldn't be able toreschedule and if I didn't keep the appointment I would lose my deposit, and did. I wouldn't recommend Brownstone to my worst enemy.

It has been a while since I left the Brownstone. When I first started going there I taken by the quality of attention and care that was given to my hair and me. But things quickly slipped downhill, or should I say plummeted. I own a consulting company and I travel a lot for business. So most of the time I would call for an appointment well in advance for maint and special occasions. I had my hair done there for my wedding. My stylist was SUPER late (2 hours) although she know it was my wedding day, but I was stuck. Trying to give them another opportunity for redemption I made additional appointments and the same thing happened without any apologies or explanations. The last straw was when I made an appointment for a few services (i.e. color, deep conditioning and and updo) for my son's graduation. I implicitly let them know that time was of the essence. They assured me that they would be there on time. I even called the day before to remind them that I was coming in from DC to my AM hair appointment in Philly, then had to drive back to Delaware, and then drive back out to Philly in order to catch my 2pm flight down to Atl. I arrived at my appointment a little early but they were not there. After waiting for a while I talked to the receptionist to get an update, she was so nasty (as if I was annoying her). Long story short they arrived an hour and a half later and with no explanation or apology. I went to Atl without getting my hair done. That was the last time I will ever go there. If I ever ran my business like they run theirs I would not have any clients. Not to mention that they still have not apologized. I would never recommend anyone to go there, this is not a well run business

It's never easy to find someone that can style and manage natural hair for African-Americans. I thought that I had found a salon that lived up to those expectations. Upon having my first appointment I realized that this was not going to be good. First, my stylist, one of the owners was late. I waited for 1 hour. This is unacceptable. I received no apologies or was shown any consideration. When I asked the receptionist what was going on, she acted as if I had asked her to give me her first born. She was very rude. Then, as I sat in the chair after all that waiting, I noticed that she was shuttling between me and two other clients. I paid for her services exclusively. I did not receive that service. The color job I received on my locs was horrific. I also noticed that the place lacked in cleanliness. I was so disappointed. I cannot believe I made a trip for such lack of service and expertise. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
