About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and the amount of useful content in the listing, such as consumer reviews, detailed descriptions and photos, to help you evaluate a business's suitability for you. In addition, YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results on our sites and apps, and they may appear in sponsored listings on the top or side of the search results page.

La Stanza

A Hard To Find Gem

On Saturday morning, we decided to travel to Phila. and wanted an Italian restaurant for dinner. I read the 4 other reviews of La Stanza and decided to call, and I was glad I did! The chef/owner Marco took my call, we made a reservation for 8:00 and showed up exactly as planned. What great, great find. Greeting: We were greeted at the door and while our table was cleaned led to the bar, where the bar lady poured a nice drink with a heavy hand. The white wine my wife had was an average if somewhat mild pinot gri, but we didn't come here looking for a wine list Atmosphere: It was like being back in New York, or even better South Philly. This is a large neighborhood restaurant, with families and noise and parties and fun. There were two three large celebrations going on and it was absolutely great, we felt right at home and comfortable the minute we walked in. There was a male singer with a "karaoke" accompanying machine, and that was also fun. Dress is definitely casual, but not sloppy! Service: Rick was our waiter and he was ably assisted by a very friendly bus person. Although there were only two wait staff, we got served on time and the food was served at the right time and the correct temperature. Rick made suggestions from time to time, was absolutely on top of everything, including refilling my drink and he made it a wonderful experience. The manager came over and made inquiries, It was nice to be attended to this way, especially with three large parties going on. All in all - they continued making our two hour dining experience fabulous. The other wait staff person was asked to do a phenomenally tough job while we were there, and she needed to be mentioned on well she did, also. Food: There is no way to describe it! I had the steamed clams for a appetizer, my wife had the mozzarella and calamari. We had never tasted sauces and tastes like this before. I had the chicken soup dish, also, again, the taste was unlike anything I had before. The main courses, mine veal Marsala and hers veal with a shrimp sauce was great. I have had veal Marsala many times, but the sauce was creamy, like silk, and had the perfect reduction so the wine flavor, while apparent, did not overtake the perfectly cooked veal. The desserts, mine a tiramisu and hers a back and white ricotta cheese cake were just as good as the rest of the meal..Their espresso machine broke down three years ago, Rick told us, but the coffee was really good also. What more can I say? You may have to go out of your way to find La Stanza but it will be worth it. I would call ahead, just to make sure they don't have four big family gatherings...but I would recommend this place to you. We will be coming back when we go back to Philly.

Beat Street Station

If you want a unique, classy and fun venue that is run by true hospitality professionals, I implore you to choose Beat Street! I was not the type of bride who spent her entire life planning her wedding, but I certainly knew what I wanted--a venue with a personality, one that reflected the style and personality of both my groom and me. No stuffy, run-of-the-mill ballroom affair for this bride and groom! Beat Street MORE than delivered! From Lisa Gratzinger's professionalism and personal care throughout the planning process, to her and the serving staff's flawless and personalized care the day of, our expectations were exceeded. Throughout our planning process, some unexpected events occurred that forced us to trim the costs of our reception, and Lisa handled our requests with tact and creativity. Countless guests commented on the personal service they received at their tables, and best of all, the appetizers and food were OUTSTANDING. All of our ceremony and reception items (e.g. centerpieces, favors, decorations) were placed and organized EXACTLY, and in a few instances, BETTER, than we had requested them to be when we dropped them off the day prior...all my groom and I had to do was show up and enjoy our party. A home run for Lisa and all the folks at Beat Street!

The Franklin Hotel at Independence Park

I always look forward to staying at Omni properties. I have previously stayed at Omni in Atlanta (Omni CNN Center) and in NYC (Omni Berkshire). I drove to the property and pulled up in front of the door on Chestnut, then utilized valet parking. Check in was quick, but warm and welcoming. I was told that Wi-Fi was free (yay!). My two children were provided with little tiny Omni backpacks with some activity sheets and shall toys inside. Fun! I was also told, out of earshot of the kids, that on your first night in an Omni hotel, the kids get free milk and cookies delivered to the room at bed time. Not being able to wait, I called down and summoned the milk and cookies at 4pm. They indulged me. Comparing it to other Omni hotels in my mind, I was firstly impressed that the rooms in the Independence Park location are HUGE! Maybe it is because I live in NYC, but this double room with two queen beds is bigger than my apartment back home. This hotel is also a great location. My two young, tired children and I easily walked to lots of sites in the Historic part of town, including the Liberty Bell. I would definitely recommend this part of town and this hotel for a laid back, enjoy-the-city Philly vacation.
