I can't say enough good things about Philly Personal Training, and Elizabeth in particular! Like others who have posted here, I went to Philly Personal Training when I needed some help getting back on the health & fitness wagon. I'd just turned 30, had struggled through a recent illness, and was facing some chaos in my personal life. I decided to spend the money on personal training once a week to get myself back into a fitness routine, and thought that having a trainer would help push me further than I'd do myself. It did so much more. The habits I developed during my training sessions (From September-November) stuck with me, even after I discontinued my training due to moving out of the area, and now when I work out on my own, I can better understand when I can push myself and when my body needs to rest. My intimidation about weight or TRX machines at the gym is gone because I know how to use them. Even after a lapse in working out, I feel more optimistic about getting back into a routine, because I know that my body will build strength in time. A bit about the process: I did an intake interview with Brian, who asked me about my goals, and matched me up with Elizabeth. She is FABULOUS. Tough enough that my muscles felt like jelly after leaving most sessions, but 100% positive and encouraging. One thing in particular that impressed me is her education -- Elizabeth has a degree in exercise science, which meant that she was able to devise work-arounds for some old injuries / weak spots I have, and we RARELY repeated exercises -- she's great at coming up with creative and challenging activities. Further, she was great about being flexible with meeting times. I have a frequently-changing work schedule, and she was great about accommodating this with a few days' heads up. Philly Personal Training's Center City location was easy to get to, and their gym clean and well-lit. There's even a shower onsite if you need to dash off to work after an appointment. The one thing I didn't really utilize was the nutrition side of Philly Personal Training's program. I felt pretty good about my eating habits, so didn't engage much with their meal plans. However, others might find this feature useful. Overall, a great experience, and I'd highly recommend.

I'm not sure if I will be able to fit everything in this TINY review box. I googled so many places for over a month. I really wanted to get back in shape. After reading about Philly Personal Training, I kept looking at other places but nothing stood out as much as this place. I booked an appointment that same week. I met with Brian who helped me figure out my goals while staying within my budget. I started the following week. First, the staff here is very nice and helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, they will respond very quickly. I sent Brian an email, I got a response back within 30 minutes. I have never had a problem with them. They are very welcoming. The atmosphere is very pleasant to be in. I have never felt out-of-place. Second, I have been working with Elizabeth. Let me tell you, I look forward to seeing her every week. She pushes me to do my best, even the days I don't see her. I'll be so sore the next day but I love it. I can shoot her a text and she will respond right away. It took me awhile to get my eating habits in order and an exercise routine down; she has been there every step of the way. Oh yeah, her sense of humor is through the roof. She is always smiling, which makes my workouts even better. She makes you want to workout. Every time I try to fall off the wagon, I hear her voice in the back of my head. She knows what she is doing. She is very knowledgeable. Saying the she is the BEST personal trainer/person is an understatement. Third, the dietitian Theresa is outstanding. I have had a really good session with her. She designs a plan just for you. She gives you a list of foods that are healthy for you while including things you like and dislike. She is very easy to get in touch with if you have any questions. If you really want to get back in shape and feel good about yourself, THIS is the place. I promise you, you will NOT regret it!!
As a former collegiate athlete, it was hard to admit that I needed a personal trainer to get myself back into shape. But, after months in the gym and not seeing the results that I desired, I knew I needed to do something more. I found myself finally researching my Personal Training options here in Philadelphia. After one email to Philly Personal Training, I knew that Brian took his work seriously. During our fist initial meeting, he listened to what I had to say, understood what I was looking for and showed me how I could reach my goals. All it took was one conversation and I was convinced that I needed to give Philly Personal Training a chance. Lucky for me, Brian matched me with Shawn. Shawn, certainly knows what he is doing when it comes to training. He not only creates challenging workouts but he listens to my concerns and is always willing to share additional tips and tricks to assist with problem areas. In addition to the workouts that he puts together each week, his love of all things 90's music and miscellaneous movie trivia really helps to make my sessions entertaining. If you can’t enjoy yourself when you are working out then there really isn’t much point to it. Because of his fun demeanor, I actually look forward to going to the gym bright and early twice a week. While I can’t give you specific facts and figures when it comes to the success that I have seen in the gym, I can tell you that I leave each session feeling better than when I walked in. I lift heavier weights than I did 2 months ago and I have an overall better view point of my health and fitness journey. That is all thanks to Philly Personal training, and Shawn in particular. As long as I live/work in Philly, Shawn and Philly Personal Training will always have me as a client, that is of course, if Shawn can handle me sticking around :)
