All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
Ive been meaning to post this review for a while but havent had the time recently, but here it goes! I can not recommend highly enough a better place to take your car for any type of service be it mechanical or auto body. I found Pinnacle Automotive & Tires through Yelp and, based on the reviews, decided to bring my car there for service. I had just bought a used 1982 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel and needed a good mechanic because I was going to use the car to commute from Philly to DC on a daily basis, so I needed my car reliable. I brought my newly bought car in for a thorough inspection (which I should have done before I bought it) and Pinnacle gave me a laundry list of problems. They were very nice however and well aware that I didn't have a lot of money, so they kindly told me what absolutely needed to be repaired and then helped me form a plan to take care of the other repairs in the future. Long story short, the Mercedes ended up being a money pit and I sold it lol. Then, I bought a 2009 VW New Beetle and decided to continue to use Pinnacle as my repair shop rather than the dealer just because of their superior customer service. Mark, Dennis, Demond, and the rest of the team are great. They know me by name and remember little details about me which really makes a difference. They always address me as Mr. Pinto and are always enthusiastic when they greet me. I'm picky when it comes to my car, so when I requested a specific type of oil be used during an oil change that they didn't carry, Demond went out of his way to special order the oil for me and get the oil change done within a matter of hours. Then, I got into an accident with my new car and did some body damage and damage to the rear axel. I took my car to Pinnacle and they arranged everything with my insurance company and got the job done efficiently. The work was spectacular, second to none, and you wouldn't even know that I had gotten into an accident. I was very very very pleasesed and cant thank them enough. At the time, I also had them change the oil in my car since it was at the shop anyway and the owner, Mark, was kind enough to give me a discount on those services since I just dropped close to $4000 in repairs at their shop. Trust me guys and gals, Pinnacle Automotive is the place to go to get your car serviced! They are staffed by wonderful people, expert technicians, and do exceptional work. I can honestly say from experience Pinnacle is definitely THE one stop shop for all of your auto repair needs.
with a repair shop i feel comfortable going to!! Let me start by saying, This is the first review i have ever written. ever- i feel i need to spread the word, especially to all females, and car illiterate people such as myself. So, I have had my car for 6 years, since then i have had numerous problems, and a complete rebuild of my engine! a year and a half ago i started to experience, again, the same problems which led to the rebuilding of my engine which cost me very close to $5,000 altogether!! I towed my car to a few of the local mechanics here in the Manayunk area whom all told me that it would cost me *thousands* of dollars to repair! i did not have the $$ for this so i had the car sitting in the road for a year not knowing what to do and since i had just paid off the car i did not want to just get rid of it. so i waited. I met Chuck a couple of weeks ago and explained to him my situation. he gave me a rundown of what the potential problems could be, and said first things first, replace the battery and if it turns over, or hopefully starts, we will go from there. being that my car did not run in the first place i couldn't get it to the shop to do this. so he offered to come to where the car was on his off time and put it in for me! ( a mechanic making house calls?? unheard of!)so he did, and it started! so in less than a week my car was back to life, running beautifully and has cost me less than $300!!! Much better than the other estimates of thousands of dollars i got in the past! Chuck walked me through, and showed me step by step what he was doing, AND why! he didn't try to scam me because im a female and didn't know much about cars by adding extra unnecessary repairs, (which happens more often than not!) I am so thankful to have stumbled upon this repair shop!!! Chuck and his staff are VERY friendly and attentive, which makes going to the mechanic less stressful than it already is! I have been to many mechanics in my day and this was the first time i didn't feel as if i was being ripped off and being taken advantage of. I will never go to any other mechanic. I highly recommend Chuck's garage! Thanks Chuck.
So - I think I just found my new neighborhood mechanic! My car has been acting funky and deciding to not turn on out of the blue (I thought it was just because it was sick of me driving it to work on the weekends...I mean who works the weekends?!?) So last weekend I stopped by a PepBoys to have the battery checked. For $15 they checked the battery, altenator, and starter and said it was all fine so it much be a 'major problem'. On that note I took my keys, paid the $15 and said 'Thank you very much goodbye' aka 'screw you I know it's nothing major PepBoys' and went on my merry way. A week later, on Saturday, my car started acting funky AGAIN. It died on me while stopped at a light on 10th and Washington and this nice guy pushed me over into a parking lot, gave me a jump, and suggested I take it to Pinnacle down the street. Within 10 minutes they had it pulled in, battery tested and diagnosis explained - battery is bad. Even though they obviously had other work going on, they took the time to show me the meter reading and explain to me that battery needed replacement. 20 min later I was driving home happily with my new battery and running car. Its great to find a repair shop open on Saturdays at that! I even talked to a woman in the waiting room who stated her and her husband had been going there for years... Thanks Pinnacle - I'll most def be back!
How much is a quality trustworthy mechanic worth? PRICELESS! I’ve been relying on Lam from J&L Auto to service my 2002 Saturn for over the past 7 years and have always been impressed with the consistent quality of workmanship my car has received. I take pride in keeping my car which has over 150K miles running great and attribute this mainly to the outstanding service I get from J&L Auto. What is most exceptional about this business is that never once have I been recommended services to my aging car for which it did not need. On the contrary, Lam has suggested only the necessary repairs costing much less then the excessive recommendations I always got from the national chain store mechanics and quick lube chains who do nothing more then up sell service that is displayed from their computer screen. Thankfully, I started going to J&L Auto through a recommendation from my Uncle after being told I needed over $700 in repairs to my engine from a well known retail auto chain. It turned out my car needed little more work then a routine tune-up which was a fraction of the cost. Ever since then, I continue to trust Lam and J&L Auto for their expert and HONEST advice for all repairs and routine maintenance on my car.
i had a crazy situation with my 02 ford explorer.. i went to joe because my aunt had two of her cars fixed there before and they worked good for her. i bought the car like a year ago, and first i started havin problems wit the 4x4 during the winter. joe got that fixed for me with my warranty company with no issues. a few months later, my trans started actin crazy when i was drivin on the highway. i took it back to joe and lucky for me my warranty company still had coverage but they didn't want to pay the full price joe got me as much as he could from the warranty people, and dropped the price for me so i could get my car back for work. they didn't really have to drop me price for me if they didnt want to but its good to kno that theirs people still around that understand the problems we got in the economy. i told joe id write him a review on here and i always forgot until now but i just wanted to thank them again for doin a good job on my baby and workin with me money wise. id tell anyone i know to use them. thanks again guys. you got a satisfied customer rite here
I would recommend these guys to anyone or anybody... whether you have a small ding or your vehicle has been in a major accident... Oxford can handle your needs.. I love the staff there everyone was down to earth and wanted to do all they could to help.. In addition to saving my entire insurance deductible, they also helped me secure a rental even when my insurance company gave me a hard time.. I was given real time updates of every stage my car went thru during the repair process. I never once had to call and ask "is my car finished yet" they kept me abreast at all times. That's not to speak on the excellent job they did on my 08' Audi A6.. it was in a major front end collision.. but me nor any of my family or friends were able to tell.. they also took the time to completely detailed my car inside and outside. These folks gave A1 service and have earned not only my business but the business of a lot of my friends, families and associates based upon the good work they did on my vehicle and the utmost professionalism which they handled me with.
Magic, is the only word, that I can use to describe the excellent work, and the the professional service that I received from the owner ! I was involved in a accident recently with my Benz, and was unsure where I could take my car to be repaired, always being afraid that the repairs would not be done properly. I was having a conversation with a close friend of mine, and he told me of a small body and fender shop, that does quality work, with very reasonable pricing! My friend gave me the phone number, and the rest is history! I have owned my benz since new, and since Christopher did the work, I can not tell that their was any work done at all! You see some body shops, when they do work, you have paint sprayed where you don't want it to be. Also, body panels don't line up properly, or the shade of paint is not matched. Christopher, worked magic on my baby! I highly recommend Christopher autobody to anyone who wants a superior job, at a reasonable cost! Thank you Chris.
For the last 3 years I have been taking my car to Pep Boys, and they have been nickle and dime'ing me to death. The last time I took it to PB they told me it was going to cost over $2K to replace just my a/c unit in the car because it had a hole in it. I said no way! My friend told me about Dillon's Auto Repair so I deiced to give him a try. I usually don't write reviews but for the service, experience, friendliness and the cost I just had to leave this review. Took my car (with no appointment) and asked him to look the whole car over as I am an Uber driver and did not want to break down. With-in 2 days he had my car inspected, my a/c unit fixed and my over heating problem all done. Now for 3 YEARS PB was never able to do all of that in 2 days! And for the price I paid I highly recommend Dillon's Auto. I have found a new doctor for my car and I couldn't be happier! Thank you so much to the team at Dillon's Auto Repair Shop! (Would of given more stars if I could of)
This is actually my first ever review but I was compelled to write one after the simply OUTSTANDING customer service I received from Pinnacle Automotive!!! I chose this shop truly based on the Google ratings and reviews and I am so glad I did! Everything the previous 5 star reviews said in their praise of this shop is 100% right on...no bull! And yes, they took care of me like I was their only customer and yes they expertly detailed the car afterwards (took me a couple of days to find and appreciate all the extra things they did). So, If you want a repair done right, great customer service, at a very fair price...go see Mark at his shop. You won't be disappointed :) Mark, many thanks to you and your fine staff. I've asked our Garage Manager to refer all future business to you guys (thanks for the extra business cards), so I hope you get more business as a result! One very happy customer!!! Richard
Took my 2008 Nissan Maxima on January 23, 2012 in to have it repaired after someone hit my car. Voitek and his staff not only did a good job, they returned it to me in better shape than before the accident. Voitek and his staff worked with me from start to finish. Voitek even provided his personal cell phone number. Whenever I called, he answered, even if it were off hours. Voitek was even willing to wait after hours so that i could get my car after work and leave my rental with him. Aside from just doing a good job. They were actually pleasant. Many of the other places I called seemed annoyed to take my money. This place by far is the most professional and reasonably priced auto shops I have ever been to. If you live in the Phila area, i would recommend them. Hell, even if it's a hike to get there I would recommend you take your car to Voitek and his knowledgable, friendly and helpful staff.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
