It was my first visit to Sushi Planet and it was such a great experience! We went at 4pm on Sunday so we were the only patrons eating in, although there were several customers for take-out. The waiter was so attentive and pleasant. He immediately gave a us waters and fresh homemade pickles. I asked if they have pots of jasmine tea or just cups. He said they serve by the cup but he can make us a pot! After ordering 4 pretty basic rolls the waiter brought us out a complimentary appetizer. I'm unsure of what it technically is called but it was 4 pieces of fresh salmon dressed with some oil, soy, scallion, and capers. VERY good! When we got our entree it looked beautiful and tasted the same! Like I said, we got basic stuff - spicy tuna/avacado, yellowfin/scallion, spider roll, and shrimp tempura. ALL DELICIOUS. After finishing the chef and/or waiter brought us out a complimentary "dessert" which was a piece of watermelon with a piece of fish - sorry unsure what kind! - and dressed with a lemon-y onion-y light sauce or foam. It was also very good. Also, the price was very reasonable. It was under $30 total for all we got. My boyfriend said he doesn't ever remember feeling so appreciated as a customer! The atmosphere was relaxed, cozy and clean. The music was cool and playing off one of the guys itunes. It might be difficult to bring a large party here unless arrangements are made. I noticed one large table for 8 in the back of the restaurant (could def squeeze 10) but the rest of the tables are 2 tops mostly. There is also a sushi bar with a few seats. I usually go to Wasabi house because it is so close to my apt - but they are closed on Sundays so decided to give this a whirl. It was definitely worth the walk! I'll def go back. They are also BYOB if you're having dinner.
This Red Lobster restaurant is a getting a major overhaul with a new management team that is putting an end to some really bad practices. The servers, bartenders, hosts/hostesses are being given a complete revamp with a focus on better service, better attitude, and an end to caving in to the recent customer scams that are trying to take this restaurant under. The food is delicious and the service is good, but the clientele have spun out of the control with people insisting they received bad service in order to have their meals comped or so they will be given some freebie for even the slightest inconvenience. I sat next to a table where an elderly woman got up and began cursing like a sailer to a manager after being seated about three minutes who began screaming that every time she comes, she gets bad service - and she made a scene in front of the entire restaurant! I had to wonder why she continued to come? I have also witnessed a couple on my other side eat a meal they didn't order saying they didn't know they didn't order Lobster! Lobster (at $25.00 at least) that they didn't think they should pay for after eating it!!! Times are a changing here, however, because a new management team is weeding these types of customers out! And thank goodness for those of us who enjoy the food, the service, and will pay our bill!
I thought opening a seafood store in such a highly voilenced neigborhood like NiceTown would be horrible and unwise . All the little ghetto "corner" shops turn out to be a mad house but in the beginning they are marvelous . I have been living on Rowan Street all my life and I know better than to do anything public around these people . The night I first ordered from Strictly I was in desprate need of some crab cakes . My bright duaghter suggested the new seafood place on Germantown Ave. and I ordered just to try it out . A young lady answered the phone and I thought I might not like the place because we could barely even hear each other of cause to the blasting music in the backround . I went to go get it and they were so polite and sweet . I remember the chefs in the back handing the platters over to the two sisters in the front and a young girl would put napkins and forks inside . I try to order from Strictly whenever I need a good boost . I haven't tried their catering service yet but I would recomend it . The owner who I heard is Micheal Durant loves all his employees and they are all family . He provides many room for his costumers to move around and enjoy eating . I do not like that they have such little room in the back to serve food because of the room outside the counter . EAT AT STRICTLYS!!!!!!!!!!!
